Sounds Like
...Gatling Gees is classic classic rock...the band sounds like American rock inspired by the pre-Invasion British. Like early Beatles or Kinks... (SEATTLE WEEKLY) ******** ...You can hear hints of the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Hank Williams and Chuck Berry presented with a confident attitude reminiscent of NWA. Some call it Rockabilly but it’s not. It’s rock and roll in its purest form yet modern enough to get the crowd moving and begging for more...even the hipster that started in the back had made his way to middle of the floor and was dancing like he didn’t remember he was supposed to be looking cooler than everyone else. Such is the power of the Gatling Gees. (NOT FOR TOURISTS ONLINE) ******** ...Just imagine a young Mick and Keith, jamming out in their flat after learning their first Chuck Berry song... (SEATTLE WEEKLY) ********...At times it felt like Ritchie Valens was fronting Operation Ivy or Jerry Lee Lewis was covering The Gories. The trio, all draped in black with suspenders, drenched the ass-shaking crowd with twelve-bar-blues with a hopping, street punk punch.(SEATTLE SOUND)********...Gatling Gees proved why they were my choice for "best new live band I saw in 2008." They had several Capitol Hill hipsters swing dancing with great fervor - no easy feat...(NADAMUCHO) ********...if seeing some kids from Renton interpret the Beatles circa Hamburg 1961 with the attitude and delivery of the Clash sounds like fun to you, I think you'll enjoy them.(NADAMUCHO)******** Rock and Roll. (GATLING GEES)
...They studied their forefathers, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly. They got their songwriting inspiration from visionaries like the Beatles and Beach Boys. They were mentored by the attitudes of N.W.A. and Big Black. It was natural for them to see how these influences should be combined to form the Next Era of Rock and Roll; an era that would not only modernize the sound but retain and honor the spirit of the Golden Age. They knew their mission...

BIG HIGH performs live @ the High Dive in fremont this Friday! Check it out!
Here's a review of the band from the infamous Dennis Cook of Jambase.com: A touch too punchy to make the morning offerings, I stumbled in and got WOKE THE FUCK UP by Big High, a local hard rock ensemble and friends to Flowmotion that struck a first impression akin to my first mind-blowing Drunk Horse gig. Like Oakland's steel-plated punk-boogie juggernaut, Big High aren't screwing around and it wasn't a whole tune before I was shaking like a madman close to the stage. Killer tunes, a crazy tight band and a lead singer (Mesa on "vocal flyfishing") possessed of a fathomless bottom and high reachin' top end plus a leaping, fiercely engaging stage presence, and well Big High sorta rocked my widdle world. It's serious heavy muscle that puts a lil' anger and sex in your bloodstream, culminating in a frighteningly good cover of The Who's "Baba O'Riley" delivered in Dr. John style feather masks for no good reason except to be delightfully weird. If you're feeling Clutch, Parlor Mob or just dig quality hard rock you're missing out if you don't get to know Big High. At the end of their set I bellowed, quite uncontrollably, "We're awake now, motherfuckers!" Meant it, too. -- Dennis Cook--www.jambase.com www.myspace.com/bighighmusic BIG HIGH is also on facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/BIG-HIGH/134022157365?ref=nf High Dive www.highdiveseattle.com 513 N 36th St # G Seattle, WA 98103-8693 (206) 632-0212 &
