Gavin Ackerly hails from the outer east suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. He is influenced by Bruce Springsteen, early Counting Crows and U2. Over the years, Gavin has featured in a number of line ups in the Melbourne indy music scene. More recently he has turned his attention solely to writing and recording. His latest full length offering is "A Distant Light" which was released in November 2008. Described as a “diamond-hard masterpiece”, a Distant Light is a dark and deeply beautiful album that spans across the last ten years of Gavin’s best song writing.
“The album is about a man’s journey through the political and the personal,” Gavin says, “It’s about him trying to come to terms with the world he helped to create. He’s not just looking out at the world and saying it’s fucked.
