About me:
Heart
The corners of my heart
were so filthy,
God had to break it
to clean it.
Grand Heart
Just below
the Arizona/Utah border
the sun-dried skin of the earth
splits apart, exposing
pink/red rock-flesh.
The sunburned stone
stands torn and vulnerable.
God's heart-land has been
laid wide-open.
Underneath,
the blood-vein Colorado River
affirms life,
as do nerve-white trailways,
leading up and down.
These rocks,
unlike granite push-ups,
display God's hidden works
in stunning striations--
foreordained plans,
layered during
the laying down
of the stored secrets of time;
each of His Truths,
a different color,
each of His Ways,
a unique creative pattern.
Both canyon and mountain
stand monumentally mute
speaking majesty.
To mountain, we look up;
yet here,
we gape down
from life's rim,
into artwork
seemingly born of pain,
somehow
much more
speechless.
God draws us
to this descending view,
revealing again and anew
His Heart:
out of suffering--
an unparalleled
beauty.
Can our hearts
also stand,
pained and opened,
as silently,
as handsomely,
as enduringly?
Hell--That's How
God;
Hell was, for You,
the hour Your
Son died.
That's how You sought me.
Now God;
Hell is, for me,
any moment
without You.
That's how You hold me.
But soon, God;
Hell will be, for them,
eternally
real.
That's how You send me.
