Thanks for checking out my music and website. I’ll try to keep this concise. I started writing songs as a teenager and spent some time as a 19-year-old street musician in San Francisco. I had my first professional gig as a singer/songwriter in an Amsterdam coffeehouse at age 20. But for a number of reasons, I stopped making music for several years. Later, I had a career that involved both photography and writing.
Then, a few years back, I started writing songs and singing again. In recent years, I have performed at coffeehouses, special events, and other venues.
Eventually, I wanted a change of career direction from journalism and became a preschool teacher. For a time, I juggled teaching, working as a movie extra, and performing music.
My life took a somewhat different turn when some years back I developed adult-onset asthma during a bout of bronchitis. Initially, it was considered "mild intermittent" and I was able to recover rapidly from flares. But after awhile, the infections I got made working with small children no longer an option.
I went back to school, again, and became an addictions counselor. I was looking forward to a long career.
But in January of 2003 I caught a severe lung infection/bronchitis that worsened my lung function. Since then, I have had frequent asthma exacerations of long duration and, despite being on boatloads of medications and having consistent medical care, I have never regained the lung function I had prior to that illness in 2003. My lungs appear to have built-in limitations and I can no longer walk faster than a strolling pace without severe shortness of breath. I have learned to accept my condition and have now retired from my former careers. And, I NEVER smoked!
The good news is, unless I am in the acute stage of a flare, I can still sing. The bad news is my exacerations are so frequent and unpredictable, that it is hard to schedule music bookings. I do still sing at local open mikes where, if I am having a bad day, I can skip it!
Which is why this website is such a great resource. I can get my music out, regardless of how my lungs are doing on any given day.
So, welcome to my site and you can also check out via the archive function lots of blogs I've now written here.

Dear Gayle, How are you? IF I came down your way, are there any cool open mics or coffeehouses I could play. I am getting ready to buy a car and want to tour. Peace Greg
I wish I could leave a message to you and everyone else on my list of MySpace friends on a regular basis but it is impossible. Fortunately you all seem to understand and you have stayed with me and stood by my cause. Smoking kills those we care about and it is important we do all we can to help them quit and stay quit. Thank you sincerely for your friendship.

Gayle is inspiring When she is singing From Seattle to California All across this reverb nation She's singing out about tomorrow About flying, summer and surrender
When Gayle sings, We remember She rocks the world.
