As a travel destination, tens of thousands
of gays and lesbians visit Missouri annually. While shopping, dining,enjoying our outdoors, nightlife and beautiful weather, these gay and lesbian tourists infuse millions of dollars into the statewide business economy. Businesses, both gay and straight, recognize that gays and
lesbians are loyal, reliable customers who have more disposable income to purchase their products and services.
Why do we care where we shop? Because we don’t like being
humiliated, rejected and ridiculed for being gay. There are many businesses out there with owners or employees who don’t approve of gays and lesbians. As a community, we come across them all of the time. Car dealers,retail shops, computer repair, plumbers, electricians, realtors; the list goes on and on. Our response to those businesses is simply not to patronize them.
And that’s where the GayMissouri Yellow Pages comes in. It serves as a guide for the whole gay and lesbian community to find the businesses that want our business and will treat us with the same courtesy as any other customers.
