In September of 1988 on the campus of Brooklyn College, eleven women strived to create a sorority that concentrated on the needs of every individual. Through their hard work and determination, Gamma Beta Delta Sorority, Inc. was founded.
Today, we continue our original credence--that sororities are productive, beneficial and an integral part of college life, on and off campus. We offer each member a sense of comradeship, outlets for creative energy and experience in leadership. We also offer each member friendship, sisterhood, trust, and a sense of loyalty.
Our chief charity - The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, helps fund research in hopes of finding a cure for this disease. We have an adopted child named Ganesan. With the help of The Christian Children's Fund and our events, we help raise money to support him and his family. Ganesan lives in India with his parents and younger sister.
We have also initiated a Million Penny Drive which has been given to aid citizens in the Caribbean who have been affected by hurricanes and other forces of nature that have destroyed their homes and ways of life.We are also participating in America's Walk for Diabetes in hopes to raise money to find a cure for diabetes and the American Lung Association's Asthma Walk in hopes to find a cure for asthma.
Each semester Gamma Beta Delta thinks up new and inventive ways to raise money for our charities. If it be through bake sales, parties, walk-a-thons or other fund raising ideas such as our Annual Talent Show where other organizations on campus can compete by showing off their talents, we have raised large amounts of money for our charities.
Our sorority colors are: Teal, Grey, and White and our mascot is Calvin from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes.
I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship. I'm very sorry that I haven't been in touch like I should have lately. With all that has been going on with Winston I have not gotten too many chances to be online. The weeks have really gone by fast. I praise God so much that Winston is improving and is almost back to 100%. Now we’re going through an uncertain future with JJ as he remains in ICU at the animal hospital. Hopefully everything will be fine and back to normal soon. Thank you for understanding and continuing to be my friend.
