GBH(Grievous Bodily Harm) is a small (but growing) non-profit 'organisation' that plans, sets up, promotes and runs metal gigs within Edinburgh. It has been going since February 2009 and has hosted some excellent gigs with bands from all over Europe of many different styles.
The general aim of GBH is to put on regular metal events every 6 weeks or so, where both local and nationwide (or further) bands have the opportunity to play alongside each other, as well as putting on high quality, professional events.
We try to organise each gig differently and tailor them into specific styles of nights. For example one month having a black metal night, then the next month a hardcore show, then death, punk, melodic, thrash... and so forth. That way we avoid hashing overly random acts together and keep things interesting.
All profits made goes towards covering costs like flyering, transport, equipment hire if needed but mainly to the bands that play - Because after all without the bands there would be no gig and it's due time bands where thanked for their efforts, and being in a band myself I know how nice it is to receive some kind of payment after a show. No matter how small!
By ensuring bands, especially ones that need to travel long distances for the night, get a good return we ask that you, the fans, try come along to as many of these events as you can. The door fee isn't expensive and helps to lubricate the success of the night as well as helping our local scene.
We are always looking for bands who might be interested in playing at one of our shows, so if you think you might be interested or know a great metal band that should be put on then please just get in touch! Also people who might be able to help us in any way possible would be great - Whether just helping us flyering or if you can help us by reviewing the gigs, taking live photos, listing the gig in your magazine or forum or any way in which you can.
A lot of effort goes into putting these gigs on, but we all enjoy it! We hope you do as well. See you at the front - Mike and co.

Vetr is the personified Season of Winter
In the stanza 26 of the Poetic Edda poem Vafþrúðnismál, the god Odin (disguised as "Gagnráðr") asks the jötunn Vafþrúðnir from where warm Sumarr and Vetr come from, stating that they arrived "first among the Wise powers". In stanza 27, Vafþrúðnir responds:
Vindsvalr he is called, Vetr's father, and Svásuðr, the father of Sumarr.
And both of these shall ever be Till the gods to destruction go.
