The Galveston Bay Parrot Head Club received its charter from Parrot Heads in Paradise (The National Organization) in December of 1995. The lifestyle we live around the lake, bay and on Galveston Island is perfectly in sync with the philosophies of a true Parrot Head. Our activities tend to center around the lake, bay and the Island and we are closely associated with the environmental concerns that effect the waters and land in our area. Since our birth back in 1995, the club has grown to about 350 members with new members joining each week -----------------------------
What Do We Do ? ---
The GBPHC meets for happy hours each Friday night at Noah's Ark in Bacliff, Texas where we are fortunate enough to enjoy the entertainment provided by several musicians who are members of the club and who sing a full repertoire of Jimmy Buffett and other Parrot Head friendly tunes. Send an e-mail to president@gbphc.com to find out where the Parrot Heads will be partying on any given weekend. In July or August of each year we host "Riddles in the Sand" - "Summer Camp for Parrot Heads" in Galveston, a three-day long convention/festival benefiting Bay Area Turning Point and the Child Life Department of the Shriner's Burn Center for children. We also do weekend road trips to enjoy New Orleans, Guadalupe River floats, pool parties, beach parties, seasonal parties and whenever there are a group of Parrot Heads around, there’s usually an impromptu party ! -------------
At the GBPHC, we do believe in "Partying with a Purpose" and these events have benefited local charities such as the Bay Area Turning Point, The Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network, the Bay Area SPCA and national charities such as Save the Manatee and the Alzheimer’s Association. We have also been involved in the Adopt a Highway Program, the Galveston Beach Cleanup and Galveston Bay Foundation marsh grass plantings. ----
All of this leads up to our "Christmas in the Caribbean" Christmas party for our members in December. We hope you will come join in the fun with the Galveston Bay Parrot Heads !

In the wake of Katrina, we know that Louisiana's coastal crisis means more than the loss of some redfish or blue crabs - it means the difference between a sustainable New Orleans and the next Atlantis - take a moment to check out our profile to act now, & please keep spreading the word!
