About me:

Welcome to our Myspace page!

Great Dane Rescue of North Texas, Inc. is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medical attention and foster care while seeking permanent homes for abused and abandoned Great Danes in the North Texas area.

To reach its goals, Great Dane Rescue of North Texas rescues sick, injured, abused, and abandoned Great Danes, finds loving and knowledgeable permanent homes, educates the public about the temperament, characteristics and special needs of the Great Dane breed, teaches responsible pet ownership, promotes animal identification programs, spay/neuter programs and general animal population control.

We are members of the Great Dane Rescue Alliance and DFW CARES. We provide several financial and educational public programs.

All Great Danes that come through the rescue program are spay/neutered, heartworm tested, given Rabies, DHLPPC and Bordetella vaccinations, fecal tested, micro-chipped, and given their first heartworm preventive. All Great Danes are treated for any parasite and illness present including but not limited to intestinal worms, heartworms, upper respiratory infections, ehrlichia, broken bones, and special surgeries.

Rescued Danes are placed in foster homes while they are with us and live as part of the foster's family. During this time each Dane's health and temperament is evaluated which helps us make appropriate permanent placements. In addition to providing medical and emotional rehabilitation, all foster homes crate train, work on basic obedience and housebreaking.

Who I'd like to meet:

People who...

-understand that a pet is a true family member - not something to be discarded when life gets tough.

-know and accept the depth of the responsibility that comes with bringing a pet into their lives.

-like to watch TV with a 140 lb 'lap dog' sitting on them.

-are interested in adopting, volunteering, or just plain can't get enough of Great Danes.

For more information, visit our website at danerescue.net where you can view our currently available Danes, Contact Us, participate in our online discussions with fosters, volunteers, members, and other Dane Lovers just like you, get advice, see what we're up to... and much more!

Thanks and we look forward to getting to know you!

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I love all animals and especially Great Danes. I did have one that I loved very much, but he passed away at about nine years old. I miss him so much.

I fully realise that the economy totally sucks right now, we oursleves live paycheck to paycheck
and god forbid if I have another heart issue BUT...........

I am putting the following challenge out......
I am challenging everryone to match my $10 donation that I just made to GDRNT.

The more money we raise......... the more Sams' and Williams We can help!
Surgeries and rehabilitating our babies can get expensive!

Below are the facts that I have been thinking about:

After doing some research we have over 100 MILLION users on Myspace.
Ok lets multiply that by $10 or even $5
WOW thats my kinda money for rescue !!!!!

When a Dane is rescued rescue spends an average of $400 to fully vet a dog.

When that dog is adopted out the adoption fee on average is $235

We all know that there is no profit in rescue and that our rewards are the
sucess stories which are freakin awesome.
We cherish the animals that we are able to save
and I fully believe they know it!

What will my donation mean that I will have to do without this month???
1 new collar for one of our Danes (They really don't care anyways what their collars look like)
    or
1 piece of decent makeup (Sorry Mac & Mabeline)
    or
1 lunch out with my coworkers (Didn't need those calories anyways a tuna sandwhich will work)
    or
2 trips through the uber cheap $5 car wash (Ok so I can stand for my vehicle to look like it needs a bath for a month)
    or
1 piece of clothing that I may fall in love with while at Walmart (Didnt need to wear something that everyone else is wearing anyways)

I could go on and on but I won't.

The facts are simple...... RESCUE NEEDS YOU !
We have the possibility of raising tons of money just from a simple simple challenge.

I lost my babies this weekend. It really hurts to see your animals you love taken away from you. But I know they are in a better place now. Its just hard on our family.
