The Nashville Rage describes us as a "sort-of Southern Alice in Chains with occasional tendencies toward arena rock." It's just good, down home, foot stompin', ass kickin' heavy rock with a Southern edge.
Gear Driven is a foot-stompin' heavy rock band based out of Dickson, TN, just down the interstate from Nashville. The band has been in existence since early 2002 and has established itself as a force around the Nashville area. Gear Driven's sound combines Cult-like grooves with AIC-inspired guitar dripping in tone and Helfieldish vocals. G.D. has what few do - an original sound. The band members' sixty years of combined musical experience results in a sound and songs that are simple and to-the-point, yet extremely powerful.
Tommie Wynn (vocals), David Jones (guitar), Jerry Work (bass) and new drummer Ronnie Carroll have known one another for almost their entire lives. They all grew up in musical environments, and they have all played music together on-and-off for years. Jones's father played lead guitar for Johnny Cash in the 70's. Wynn sang country music for years before turning to rock. Work switched from guitar to bass solely for the purpose of playing with his good friends in Gear Driven. Ronnie, the most recent addition to the band, has played in metal bands for years, but has seen the light and now drives Gear Driven with thunderous grooves. Gear Driven is mature, professional, and ready to bring their downhome, ass kicking sound to the rest of the world.
