SAD. A waste of a great park mis-managed. I am sorry Cedar Point even bought you now. They could have at LEAST given you a going away party.

I am very disheartened as well! I was planning a trip out to Ohio this year and couldn't go... so I figured I would just go next year. :-( Geauga Lake was an excellent park. Cedar Fair definately did not make the strides of improvement it should have to make it a more successful park. Although the water park is ok, I always went there for the coasters. It is an end to a sad tradition.

I really did have a fun time when I was there in the summer. It sucks to see a park like that get the axe to be jsut a water park.

This is BS. I don't think turning it into only a Water Park is the solution at all. Look at the popularity of the Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster alone. It's time for either a Giga or Strata coaster at Geauga Lake!

I went to Geaugua Lake last year in April 06 and had a great time. I was hoping to plan a trip next year... but not for just a water park. I have had alot of good time at that park back when it was first called Geauga.
Its sad that Cedar fair is killing a park with so much history and such good rides. I hope whatever they plan to do they learn from their mistakes with this park and not mess up THE POINT.

I have been going to Geauga Lake since I was 2 years old. It's been a wonderful place to go with my family for 20 years. I have to say I am extremely upset by this decision. I was upset when they took the animals away from Sea World. Now all of the rides that I have enjoyed for years will be gone. I understand wanting bigger & better things for Geauga Lake. But I truly think that making it strictly a waterpark isn't the best solution. Many days in Ohio are rainy. No one wants to goto a water park when it's raining outside. What will happen to the rollercoasters that have been there almost since the park has been open? The Big Dipper, Raging Wolfbobs... these coasters are historic to me & I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes so. If there's any way we can save our wonderful amusement park, please, let's do it.

my children 5,7, and 9. are so upset. We had season passes and drove an hour and 15 minutes three times a week all summer. Next year we will be at kennywood, and they dont even have any water rides.

As sad as I am to see all the rides go (and believe me, I will miss them all, especially Dominator & Thunderhawk), I think we all need to understand why this happenned. From a business sense, the park was pretty empty on the ride side for most of the past few summers. Most coasters were regularly walk-on, which is great for the visitors, but if there are so few visitors, how is the park supposed to operate with a profit? With Cleveland's pathetic economy this doesn't come as a complete surprise, but it is still sad, none the less.

Geauga Lake, you will be missed by this Cedar Fair shareholder & Season Pass holder.

My other comment didn't show up. :-( Anyway, I only got to visit Geauga Lake once-- this past summer. I really loved The Dominator, Double Loop, and the Big Dipper. I really hope that Cedar Fair saves these rides and re-erects them at other parks- Kings Island?!

Geauga Lake you will be deeply missed from a season pass holder for the past 10 years and lifetime friend. May Cedar Fair's demise come one day for shutting you down and not even giving you a chance. Cedar Fair hope you go down in flames and there is something Cedar Fair cannot take away, all the great memories that I will have of that great park.
