Sounds Like
If you have any good comparisons/suggestions of who you think we sound like then please let us know, we have no idea how to answer this!
The highlight of 2007 has to be GeEkgiRL supporting The Gossip!
Roll on all new prospects in 2008! including main stage in both London and Manchester...
"Geekgirl have grown from shy beginnings as an acoustic act into the band they are in 2007 - a true outsider punk outfit cherished by a generation of Manc music misfits. [Their album] 'May Contain Traces Of Boy' sounds like the most unhinged, electrifying thing to come out of the Manc underground scene for yonks. Thrashing with PJ Harvey-meets-Throwing Muses fire and purring with hectic pop, it's a breakneck crawl through messy relationships and modern Britain." David Sue, MEN
GeEkgiRL are a three-piece punk/pop/rock type band hailing from Manchester, England. They own their own record label together with their producer and live engineer Tracey Browne. Their first release off this label was the album "May contain traces of boy" which is a reference to the fact that there are boys in the band, which still shocks many people.
To date GeEkgiRL have played alongside the likes of Charlotte Church (yes, really), Ari-Up of The Slits (fi sang with her on stage, we don't talk about it), Nizlopi, The Bodyrockers, The Hedrons, David McAlmont, Horse, Liz Green, and even The Gossip (some of you may have heard of them, Beth is smaller than Fi, believe it or not).
For a full list of previous appearances, more sounds and for anything else you need to know, please visit the official site.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: This my space site is managed officially for the band by a number of different people. All messages WILL be read by band members from time to time as an when they are able, or if it is appropriate (each message should be signed off so you know who it's from!). Should you wish to contact a specific band member please use their personal profile where possible (you will find a link to them on our friends list, they are all friends with the band funnily enough), or visit the official website.
PLEASE FURTHER NOTE: Please do NOT use our comments section to flyer/advertise yourself or anything else you are promoting. We don't spam YOUR fans and friends, we ONLY send out bulletins to people that have agreed to be OUR friends, by choice. Please respect that our comments section is a place for people to leave US messages, not a place for you to use as free advertising. Your flyers take up too much space and are out of date by the end of the week. They WILL be deleted, UNLESS they are related to GeEkgiRL (we think that's fair enough). Thank you.
