Traditional~mid 20th century Japanese popular music, Japanese war songs, Japanese folk songs, old Japanese cartoon songs, traditional world children's songs, punk rock, heavy metal, etc.
In Japan, there was a girls punk band called "10 Yen Anakinoko", which the singer Seiko started when she was 15 years old. This band ended after playing their last show in New York in 1995, and the band became legend.
5 years later, 10 Yen Anakinoko played a one time reunion show in New York. A guitarist Jun was called in as a support guitar player, and this led to the beginning of the band GELATINE.
Only a few hours after this reunion show, Seiko and Jun decided to start a new band. They had two aims to enforce. One was to let the great songs of 10 Yen Anakinoko come to alive once again and even take them to a new level. Second aim was just simply to create new and intense music.
Spring of 2001, GELATINE has started playing shows. At their first show, they were already able to show their nenew very high-quality original songs.
The band overcomes numerous difficulties, including switching band members, but continues to be active around New York area, and keeps people dismayed especially with Seiko's intense stage performances.
On January 30th, 2009, GELATINE finally released the long-awaited first album, titled "Gie Ji Gaii". It is an integration of what GELATINE has been aiming for all these years.
Only those of who witness will understand how intense and outstanding Seiko's performance is. To have more people see their performances, the band is aiming go out and play in many more places.
