   About Gelsey Bell
gelsey is a singer/songwriter living in brooklyn, ny. she plays other people's pianos around the city while singing into other people's microphones. notably intimate village venues like caffe vivaldi, sidewalk cafe, and rockwood musichall. she has studied music from the preschool to university level... for what that's worth. she likes making mix tapes. she is a PhD canidate at nyu in performance studies. she is writing her diss. on the voice, song, everyday sound technologies, and other cool stuff. her undergrad degrees are in vocal peformance (bring on the opera), theatre (directing), and philosophy. she works with the performance group/postmodern dance collective - urisov - www.urisov.com. she has worked in a piano shop and uses her tuning tools only in unorthodox ways. her recent adventures include singing at a chateau in france and presenting ridiculous youtube videos at an academic conference. and, for those curious, she WAS named after the ballerina gelsey kirkland.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It can be tough at times, and responses like yours really make it worth while.

Hope to catch one of your shows sometime! Probably above ground :)

What's happening? I just wanted to get the word out that Last months gig went so well that I'm springing up with another one at the same place, this Friday January 25th at 10:oopm at Googies Lounge, which is upstairs from the Living Room, 154 Ludlow in between Stanton and Rivington on the Lower East Side. I'm playing just after the Wild Deer who start at 9:00. It's going to be a great line-up. There's no cover and no drink minimum, just solid music.

Merry Christmas!! I know that everyone has probably left New York for the Holiday season but if you haven't come and check out my show this Friday December 28th at 10:30pm at Googies Lounge, which is upstairs from the Living Room, 154 Ludlow in between Stanton and Rivington on the Lower East Side. There's no cover and I plan on absolutely zero Christmas material. So if you need a break from Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls, come check it out.

"American Free Dumb" pretty much says it all... It's my newest tune, and it rocks the emotional wit while poking the political eye a direct hit... Gots to hear this one...

Hey Gelsey, whats up!?

I was just working on that Bacharach/Warwick song 'Walk On By'. Man, that would have been a good one for you to sing with us.

How do you like Brooklyn? Hope everything is going well
