Gemma Luxton has a big voice with a personality to match. As soon as Gemma steps out on stage you can see she has that special “something”. Combined with her own unique sound of Country Rock, and her exceptional way of keeping an audience thoroughly entertained, Gemma Luxton is what Australian Country Music needs – something different.
A graduate of the CMAA College of Country Music, 2007 & 2004 Toyota Star Maker Finalist, nominated for a TIARA Award for best female vocal, winner of the ASA’s National Songwriting Competition for her song “Good Guy Gone Bad”, as well as several songs in the top 10 for same and 2006 Musicoz Finalist to name just a few of Gemma's accolades, she is certainly making her mark!
Gemma has been playing solo and in bands at pubs, clubs, rodeos and various festivals in New South Wales and Queensland. She toured around Australia with the Brian Young Outback Tour of Australia, also supporting acts like Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers and Adam Brand.
Her EP release saw her enter the Australian Country Music scene with a bang, and now with a brand new sound of country rock and a style all of her own Gemma is in the process of recording her debut album to be released end of 2007/08. With fantastic, rockin' performances at this year's Tamworth Festival, this album is sure to be a killer!
Gemma is a refreshing, proven crowd favourite with an amazing vocal range and a flair for one-liners. This combination is sure to get any venue going and with a new album coming in just a few short months this makes Gemma Luxton THE one to watch.
