Gena West is a beautiful and talented R&B, soul, jazz and gospel singer much sought after for events throughout the world. Often described as having the voice of an angel, she is a hugely versatile performer who can sing anything be it classical, jazz, funk or soul; whether as a solo performance or with a full orchestra.
Gena was first noticed as a singer when celebrated jazz singer Nina Simone suggested she turn professional. Within a few years she was signed to Arista Records/BMG and released her single “Joy” which reached no. 6 in the UK Dance Charts, and no. 1 in Italy. She has a passion for gospel music and is renowned for her solo acapella performances.
Highlights of her career include: the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, and many high profile private Celebrity Events, and recently for The Queen. Gena’s first album, “Voices” is a critically acclaimed acapella gospel album that celebrates the power, joy and emotion of gospel music and she has currently completed writing and recording her second more soulful album for release in March this year. ‘World is going crazy’ is the new single from Gena’s forthcoming pop/RnB album, ‘Journal of Life’, and Gena is generously giving the proceeds for the sale of this first single to ‘Children in Crisis’, a UK based charity founded by the Duchess of York. Gena strongly believes in giving away the “first fruits” of her new album to a worthy cause, and has single-handedly sponsored the project herself.
Gena West is also an accomplished actress and television presenter. She is Founder and Principal of Stage 2 Stage Performing Arts School in London, helping children to grow in confidence by expressing themselves through drama, dance, and singing. When she’s not in London, Gena is travelling the world, writing new songs, performing at events and doing what she does best!
