About me:
Hi and welcome to GIG! The Gender Identity Group is a peer-to-peer support group for people with gender identity issues, their friends and their families. We focus on the the real life issues facing transgendered, transsexual (both MtoF and FtoM), genderqueer, a-sexual and cross-dressing people, or anyone experiencing any gender identity based issue. The group encourages an open exchange of information, ideas and experiences. The GLCCB, located in Baltimore City, offers a safe place for GIG to meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 8pm until 10pm. BTMA, a sub-group of GIG, focuses on the needs of transmen and meets on the 4th Saturday of each month from 6pm to 8pm. Tranquility, GIG's other sub-group, focuses on the needs of transwomen and meets on the 4th Saturday of each month from 8pm to 10pm. If you feel uncomfortable presenting in public, space is provided starting 1/2 hour before each meeting to change into the gender specific style you wish to present. Please feel free to attend anyway you feel comfortable. We offer a relaxed setting. Family and friends are welcome to attend. No membership or pre-registration is required.
Who I'd like to meet:
YOU!

FTM Book Vol. 1 = OUT NOW!!!!!

About FTM Book Vol. 1
FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:

What is an FTM?
How do FTMs see themselves?
Appearance
Stages in Transition
Surgeries Available
Common Personal Histories
Violence
Discrimination
Health Issues
Counseling
Relationships
Common Legal Issues

We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.

Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.

FTM Book Vol. 2 is also in the works (more focus on relationship issues etc), as well as a few other things to be announced...

About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D
