Interests

  • General

Gender Odyssey is interested in the thoughtful exploration of gender. We provide an environment where people of all genders can share their experiences and learn from the experiences of others. Gender Odyssey, now in its 7th year, is a lot of fun. More than 40% of our attendees come back every year to discuss new changes, to explore solutions to challenges they face, to meet up with old friends, and to make new ones. Exploring gender isn't always an easy thing, especially when it's new. Conversely, once you get used to it, exploring gender can become old hat. Gender Odyssey is a place where all these folks can meet. Where new ideas open up and also a place where people who have thrown around these ideas for a while now can interact with others in a similar situation. For more information, visit the Gender Odyssey website at: www.genderodyssey.org.

FTM Book Vol. 1 = OUT NOW!!!!!

    About FTM Book Vol. 1
FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:

    What is an FTM?
    How do FTMs see themselves?
    Appearance
    Stages in Transition
    Surgeries Available
    Common Personal Histories
    Violence
    Discrimination
    Health Issues
    Counseling
    Relationships
    Common Legal Issues

We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.

Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.

    Get your copy here: http://www.cafepress.com/muskegon115

FTM Book Vol. 2 is also in the works (more focus on relationship issues etc), as well as a few other things to be announced...

    About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this.
    :D
