This site WAS functioning as Musicians of Mayberry's MySpace-based network, but after an adventurous and successful 2-year run, MoM is no more.

is likewise no more.
MayberryMusic.net was an on-line publication dedicated to promoting and serving the interests of the musicians trade within the Central Appalachian region of the USA, while this MySpace site served as a contact and information exchange forum in support of MoM's now terminated publication. At MayberryMusic.net the MoM staff published interviews and reviews. MoM's publication team used the e-publication to list show dates, maintain a Classifieds page, and feature the "Artist of the Month".

Discovered in 1926, "Mother" or "Ma" Carter was the first popular musician in the history of the recording industry. Her style of playing stringed instruments, called "Carter Picking," influenced Central Appalachian musicians of several genres, from Bluegrass to Southern Rock. A person who picks harmonic and melodic tones between rhythmic strums of a stringed instrument is said to be Carter Picking.
