Gene Libbea's career in music began on the west coast in 1972 working for Walt Disney and later the New Christie Minstrels. In 1988 he joined the Nashville Bluegrass Band where he was a member for 12 years. During that time he notched five Grammy nominations and two Grammys. Simultaneously, he became an in demand session musician recording with Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Earl Scruggs, Steve Earl, Ry Cooder and Clint Black just to name a few. Today he makes his home along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and is in high demand as an accoustic bass player and record producer.
Hiya Gene, I hope all's well with you. I've been laid up with a broken thigh for ages and your old pal John Holder came for a visit this afternoon. We had a good look at a lot of those photo's from back then. He sends his best wishes and Gay, of course, does the same. It would be great to see you again. Best Wishes as ever, Kenny
Gene-O! I forsee an evening in our near futures . . . Chinese food and bluegrass. No tunes that are more recent than the 50's. We've got some new ones that you will dig. Flatt and Scruggs, Stanley Bros, Jim and Jesse; we've got it all!
Oh, and I'm Rolling Through Unfriendly World is the best ever!
GENE!!! How've you been? It's kind of a coincidence that you added me because I literally just made a picture of you the background of my cell phone (a funny Polaroid pic that Stu sent to Dom) hahah. Miss you, man... will I be seeing you at Wintergrass? Can't wait to pick again!
