Amir Rivera (also know as General Amir) is a graduate of New Jersey City University with a degree in Business, specializing in Marketing & Media. He has established 5th Column Media, a company that focuses on artist consultation, management, marketing, promotions, and multi-media production. Through his experience and work ethic he has developed a wealth of knowledge within the entertainment industry, as well as general business skills. During his college career, his love for music eventually led to a position as the General Manager & Promotions Director for New Jersey City University's independent radio station. He later served as the official Special Events Coordinator for the University.
By developing viable business relationships, he sought to use his industry connections and talents to organize showcases and coordinate special events which were featured in the Source, XXL, VIBE magazine and other media outlets. In addition, he also provided professional support to the director of ‘New Media’ and the ‘Urban Marketing Director’ at Sony Music/ Red Distribution. While working with Sony Music/ Red Distribution, he assisted in developing online marketing and promotion campaigns with the New Media director. It is accomplishments and achievements like these that ultimately led to his desire to move forward and make an even stronger impact in the entertainment industry.
Currently, as professional artist consultant, he secured nationally syndicated performances for his talent on FUSE TV, NBC, PBS, MUN2 TV & C-SPAN. The utilization of international media exposure, has given his talent the ability to move forward in leaps and bounds allowing for the opportunity to open performances for celebrity legends, tour world wide, and also be featured in various radio, online, television, and film projects.
