Described by The Times as "an outstanding musician" and Gramophone as "a charismatic pianist", Russian virtuoso pianist and educator GéNIA has a highly eclectic repertoire, embracing classical music, contemporary works and multimedia projects.
GéNIA started her studies at the age of four with her great grandmother, pianist and pedagogue, Regina Horowitz. She is also a graduate of Guildhall and Trinity Colleges, London.
She has extensively toured the UK, Europe, and the United States. GéNIA's London appearances include the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, South Bank Centre, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Olympia and Cargo. She also appeared as soloist on soundtracks for the award-winning films "Paradise Grove" and "Bookcruncher". Her recordings and interviews have also featured in various broadcasts on BBC Radio 1, 3, 4, 5.
She has received critical acclaim for her live performances and contemporary classical releases for Black Box and Nonclassical. She has commissioned over 20 new works, particularly developing the repertoire for piano and electronics, and collaborated with an eclectic range of artists (Vex'd, The EarlyMan, Max de Wardener, kREEPA, Gabriel Prokofiev, Derailer, Trevor Goodchilde, Germ, John Richards, Roman Mints, Patrick Nunn, Mike McFerron, Jamie Telford, Brodsky Quartet, Ensemble Bash, Hayden Parsey and Ravi Deepres).
Considering music to be as much a philosophy as it is an art, GéNIA created Piano-Yoga®, a multi-dimensional method of piano playing, performing and teaching which provides a holistic approach toward playing the piano. GéNIA's first book on Piano-Yoga® is available from www.piano-yoga.com.
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends!
We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too.
We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy.
Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other.
We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large.
What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
