Described as “one of the most exciting new live acts on the Australian scene”, Genshen have proven to be one of the most accomplished unsigned bands to emerge from Brisbane's music scene in recent years. Genshen's synth-pop-rock mashup style captured the attention of Australian listers when were catapulted to national recognition with the release of their hit song Nothing Quite Like This, receiving extensive television and radio exposure around Australia.
An alluring cross between 80s synth-pop and 90s indie guitar-rock, Genshen's well-crafted high energy professional stage show earned them a selection to showcase at the prestigious Australian Music Week 2003 and then as a finalist for the national Coca Cola Live'N'Local showcase.
Genshen have since performed on the national touring circuit playing festivals such as the Big Day Out 2005, the Hoogie Festival, Gold Coast Schoolies Week, TripleM Garage Sessions and the Valley Fiesta, as well as numerous shows in pubs and clubs of the east coast along side the likes of Pete Murray, Sarah Blasko, Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Mojave 3), Waikiki, Gaslight Radio, Gersey, Goodshirt, The Beautiful Girls, The Red Sun Band, The Panics, Kim Salmon, The Cruel Sea, Sekiden, Denvar, Mandy Kane and many more.
The band has also performed live on national television for Network Ten's Pepsi Live and Video Hits and live on national radio for TripleJ and MMM.
