Sounds Like"The Genuine Imitations new album “22 Songs About Hamsters.” is gaining much respect within their local music scene,. With catchy songs, great solos, and a fun storyline of love, politics, and ridiculousness, it will brighten your day.. with mastering by John Golden (Sonic Youth), the album sounds great. " .

"22 songs is fucking awesome I kind of wish I was in this band, These guys are hilarious, but not in a novelty- record kind of way, and not in a terribly esoteric way more in a Dead kenndys kind of way or this bike is a pipe bomb kind of way. for the most part this album is completely addicting"

" punk music is made by kids who can't play instruments but have a message they want to get out. IFollowing in the footsteps of the Sex Pistols, in 2002 Dave picked up a guitar and found his way to a microphone. Over the years the band grew, yet it was their raw origins which defines The Genuine Imitations' sound."

"interesting tracks that more often than not feature a crunchy guitar riff, not really elaborate, but definitely effective... The disc features rock n roll, meets punk production and attitude, while showcasing a couple of manical minds. Fans of stripped down, garage punk rock will find The Genuine Imitations really entertaining."

   About the genuine imitations
The Genuine Imitations are just another corporate, indie rock, sugar coded commodity; as pretentious as Trey Anastasio’s solos and Roger Waters’ penis. The Genuine Imitations will kick your cute puppy. They’re true punk rebels. They’ll go to Star Bucks, but they won't say thank you when they get their lattés. They will take your sister out on a date and then, when they walk her to the door, will not kiss her. They'll just leave her hanging on the stoop of your house. Actually the Genuine Imitations where formed in 2002, and shortly after, played their first show. At first GI Dave, the guitarist/vocalist who formed the band had no idea how to play a guitar. He had read that the Sex Pistols couldn't play their instruments, but still had a band so he figured he should do it too. Sky on the other hand, went to music school and had advanced slap bass. This formed the basis of their sound. They originally reacted strongly against the oppressive culture of the post 9/11 world and sought to offend their audience. The band grew through the years. They grew from being the most hated band in Westchester county New York just north of NYC, to the most beloved. Deciding to make pop songs with choruses and stuff instead of just screaming. They played tons of shows and diy their own shows, at first being banned from most places. As the band grew They honed there punk funk sound which harked back to the American underground bands like the Minute Men or the Big Boys also highly influential were bands like the Dead Kennedy's and MDC, whose political sarcasm and imagery had a big influence. Gang of Four was a big influence the band though of themselves as gang of four with rap and melody. They didn't just rip off gang of four, however, like other bands of their generation. Right before their tour to Chicago in the summer of 2006, Sky was sent to re-hab for his heroin habit, so the band recruited Harry Katz, who was a strong supporter of the band from the start and had booked them their first show. In 2006, after their tour, they were signed with Cal Rocks Records from LA, and Dave had started his own label, WP. They continue to churn out fast punk songs, James brown-ish funk songs and pop rock classics. They have open for Mission of Burma,Jeffery Lewis and Cach 22 and Dj girl talk ........... Great meeting you all last night. Can't wait to work with you!
Eletrika (Brazilian Metal)

Jul 8 2009 8:37 PM

Thanks a lot for the add. EletriKa is completely different from every Metal you already know. The Brazilian influences and the Portuguese singularize its style in a New Kind of Metal. If you really like Metal you must check EletriKa out!

Hugs from Brazil,
