Genus Pro is a balanced blend of three unique and original emcees, Metric, Marv Ellis, and Elea'zar, who have been playing shows and consistently headlining throughout the Northwest region since the year 2002. Playing with the likes of KRS One, The Living Legends, Chuck D, Louis Logic, Mr. Lif, Hieruspecs, Crown City Rockers, Souls of Mischief, Lyrics Born, Scarub, Wisdom, and Atmosphere among others, and playing at some of the biggest venues around, these emcees/producers along with their Dj C4, have focused on delivering one of the most eclectic live shows around. It’s conscious, upbeat, and progressive, with top notch cutting edge production, and rapid fire on the fly vocal creativity that defines their spot in the entire hiphop movement.
Genus Pro has been following it's mission statement from the beginning, delivering music which origins lie heavily in Hip Hop, but consciously walk the fine line between Commercial production, and the open minded voice of the Northwest Underground movement.
Their first release entitled "Grow", was a huge success for the group. Teamed with the Corbin Brothers of The Raging Family, "Grow" became an instant underground classic. Inspired by the Pacific Northwest, the album contained a wide range of progressive hip hop ideas and styles. The synthesis of upbeat conscious demeanor and groundbreaking production techniques created a strong debut album. This initial pressing sold out of stores and left fans and newcomers hungry for more.
Now, the brand new self-produced sophomore album entitled "Extracts" has arrived, with special guest appearances by world renowned musicians such as RB Lindsay the Third on harmonica, Tre Hardsen formerly of Pharcyde, Aesop of the Living Legends, as well as up and coming artist Lafa Taylor, and Northwest Underground Guru Michael K.
The new material will be supported by heavy touring and intelligent promotional ideas, such as a real herbal extract named after the group and the movement.
