3 yrs in the making " Big Wheels " is the second CD of original music from this rising artist. After finding some success with his debute CD " It's About Time " and after two years of promoting the CD, Geoff wanted to produce a second CD of his songs and the songs he had been working on with co-writer Rick Misencik.. This CD has a bigger sound and a harder edge than the first and contains songs of being on the road, praising our veterans, saying hello to his home state and running into the ghost of Waylon Jennings on the streets of Nashville. This CD is definately worth a listen...................
" I am really happy to bring you my CD " Big Wheels ". I wanted to write songs that had stronger hooks and a stronger message. I have always enjoyed being able to write songs that someone says helped them through the day or made the hair stand on the back of their head, and the feeling I get when you have a captive audience listening and liking your music. These songs were all written in the last three years while out promoting the first CD, when those late night inspirations came to light. I have always been an outspoken entertainer reminding people of the sacrifices our soldiers have made from the past to the present. On my debut CD the song " The Hero's Always Die " is about honoring a family that had a grandfather who fought in WW11, a father who fought in Viet Nam, and a son over in Iraq. It made some waves but didn't really turn heads. This winter I was handed a gift, two songs that co-writer Rick Misencik was working on called " Blood In The Sand " and "He's Home From Iraq" ( But he's not back yet ). I then took a month long vacation on the beaches of Mexico to finish writing these songs and when I came back with the songs completed I was more excited than ever to get them on the CD. When you hear the songs you will understand! I have always been convinced that a hidden power or energy from above is present when a really good song comes to me. I feel like I am just the messenger who was blessed with the ability to find it. I shake my head and wonder how the hell I was able to come up with songs that powerful. It's a boost to keep on keeping on! I really feel that this CD is the kind of music I want to be known for and I hope it touches a heart or brings a smile." Geoff Elvee...................
Geoff Has recently moved back to the St. Peter area from northern Minnesota to be closer to the central hub of the Minnesota music scene. He is looking forward to expanding his music to a the national scene once again, having been a traveling musician in the 90s and a local artist for the last 5 years. Geoff took the majority of last year off from performing live, just doing a couple of gigs a month, to finish the CD and is now ready to hit the road again to promote his latest work.
Geoff grew up along the Minnesota river on a farm outside of St. Peter Mn. Music has always been a passion of his, even at a young age being turned on to the music coming out of his fathers late model Chevy truck while hauling fresh picked cucumbers and corn to the farm elevater 10 miles down the road or from the radio in the barn when chores were being done. He wrote his first song on a piano at age 12 and realized that making your own music was kinda cool. He got his first hand me down guitar a few years later and quit taking piano lessons because the guitar seemed easier to master. " I had only four strings on that guitar and didn't know how to get more strings so I wrote music on four strings for a long time" Elvee said.

Tomorrow Thursday May 7, 2009 Iron Horse will be hosting a Music For Food Benefit Drive at Wyatt Earp’s 7550 Hwy 10 Ramsey MN 55303. The benefit concert starts at 8:30 pm; there will be a silent auction with all the proceeds from the auction going to the ACBC Anoka Food Shelf. For every dollar we earn they are able to distribute nine dollars in food items to families in need. Local businesses have donated vouchers for services for the auction and these items will be on display for your bidding pleasure.
Also there will be a food collection point for all the non-perishable donations. Last year the food shelf distributed over 300,000 pounds of food to families in need and they had a demand for twice that amount. So we are asking for can goods, dry foods and other non-perishables to help the food shelf meet the growing demand of families in need. There is a list of items they need below.
We realize many of you have to work Friday and we join you in that quest each member of Iron Horse will be reporting to their jobs on Friday morning with a heart full of knowing that they helped a good cause. We ask that you come even if just for a short time. This is for a really good cause and it will help so many families. Families of people you know or someone in your family may one day need the help of the Food Shelf and what we collect on Thursday may go a long way in helping them.
