After 6 years of touring and recording with Jamie Cullum, star bass player, composer, arranger Geoff Gascoyne returns with a new quartet and a new CD.
Jazzizit Records presents 'Pop-Bop', an album of Geoff's favourite pop songs from the last 30 years arranged for a jazz quartet and it features the great Jim Mullen on guitar, fellow Cullum collaborator Sebastiaan de Krom on the drums and introduces a fiery young Australian alto sax player called Graeme Blevins. There is also a guest appearance from Geoff's wife Trudy Kerr who sings on one tune.
The CD is a journey through Geoff's musical history and features songs by The Stylistics, James Taylor, Diana Ross, Cat Stevens, Earth Wind and Fire and there's even a song by Take That in there, all given a new 'Pop Bop' jazz treatment.
The CD will be released in the autumn of 2009 and Geoff's Pop Bop will be touring the UK autumn 2009/spring 2010.
