This is the prologue to a band called “Circle of Peace.” Geoffrey had fallen asleep long before they announced the news. On December 8, 1980 as Geoffrey lie dreaming a figure stepped up out of the fog. This aberration in white handed him a papyrus scroll sealed with a key ring upon which hung a key in the shape of an ankh. The opening at the top of the ankh had been replaced with a peace symbol. Geoff exclaimed, “This is a symbol of tranquil life, a Tranque-Ankh!” Opening the scroll Geoffrey read a list of something, perhaps song titles. Looking up to thank this misty person whom Geoffrey perceived to be John Lennon the telephone awakened him with the news that John Lennon had just been shot. The next day having never written a song before Geoffrey’s life as the Bard began with the poem “Worship Peace.” Receiving a Guitar as a gift the Bard learned a few chords and had written his first song by New Years Eve. Many years later the Harp came into his life miraculously in much the same way. Again in a dream he saw a harp held high up through the water, as though it were Excalibur. The next weekend he met two harpists at Scarborough Faire in Texas. A friend dubbed him Geoffrey the Bard on the first day he ever owned a harp. Playing, studying and teaching the harp took over his life and focus. Today he blends his two passions together into what Geoffrey calls “Psychedelic Peace Oriented Harp Centered Rock Music.” Harp in rock music? Who would have predicted? “Circle of Peace” has always been the cause driving this music no matter what it was called. Geoffrey’s music has been featured by four acts that he named “Glass Onyon,” “Geoffrey the Bard,” “Millennium Project,” and “Dream Plane.” The one element each of these acts share is Geoffrey Ricketts, his music and the cause best stated in “Circle of Peace.”
