Completely instrumental, Geomancer is an onslaught of inspiring progressive style
heavy metal. Both highly technical and melodic, Geomancer's unique style draws influence
from a wide array of music.
Compared to bands such as Dream Theater, Death, Iron Maiden, and Opeth, Geomancer
defies the repetition of modern metal with epic tracks accompanied by violin and
absent of vocals.
Geomancer's style can
most easily be described as roboclassical neodeath-fusion heavy shredcore with
some NES and Space/Time elements.
The songs evolve rapidly, constantly changing and moving into new directions.
From death metal, to quiet interludes, to robot, with ripping leads
throughout and a variety of odd time signatures to keep things interesting. The shit
is in your face like a bad car crash on acid.
Geomancer is still struggling to bring Instru-Metal to music fans worldwide. Dedicated to music,
and the underground, Geomancer pushes metal to its limits, and attempts to draw all forms of music
away from compromise at the hands of greedy men.
Geomancer's first self-titled demo was released in the spring of 2001 as a project
of current lead guitarist and songwriter Jon Smith and current drummer
Wes Sands. This demo was followed up by a second version with the addition of
Clem Poole on bass and Pat Murch as a second guitarist. After Clem left
the band in 2002, long time friend Charlie Potter filled in on bass for a few shows
while Aaron Higgins joined as temporary violinist.
After a short break, Geomancer
recruited current bass player Elliot Shaw in 2004 and began an onslaught of live
shows. The addition of Danielle Turano and Kerry Bay in 2007 completed the
lineup and Geomancer is currently preparing to tour in support of their newest
release, Illumination.
