POLICE OFFICERS
The City of Georgetown Police Department will soon be recruiting to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies for the Civil Service position of Police Officer .
Georgetown is located 20 minutes north of Austin on IH-35 and serves as the county seat of government for Williamson County. Georgetown is home to over 49,000 residents and is on the edge of the Central Texas Hill Country. It is surrounded by many lakes and recreational areas and is a community that is perfect for work, play and raising a family.
Georgetown offers a step pay plan:
$41,885-$62,338 annual range effective October 1, 2008. (36,000 annual for cadets)
$6000 temporary housing allowance with first paycheck
$6000 sign-on bonus for certified Officers after completion of FTO program
Incentive pay for education or TCLEOSE certificates
Take home vehicle for Officers residing within the ETJ of the City of Georgetown
Departmental issued duty weapons, uniforms and equipment
Operational assignments/Specialty positions, such as:
Emergency Response Team
Motorcycle/Traffic Officer
Detective
IMPACT Team
School Resource Officer
Warrant Officer
Community Resource Officer
K-9 Officer
The eligibility list will remain active for up to one (1) year. Applicants must be twenty-one (21) years of age and not be forty-five(45) years of age or older at the time of hire, have a valid Texas Drivers License and be a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicants must be licensed as a peace officer, or the ability to be licensed at the time of appointment as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
Non-licensed applicants may be considered, and if hired, sent to the academy as a cadet.
