George Henry Wesley III. a direct descendant of Charles Wesley(founder of The Methodist Church and composer who wrote "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing" and many more hymns)was born in Northeastern,PA to a country western singer/guitar player and spent time in his father's band as a youth learning the ropes. Soon his music went to rock.. (1968 ,Total Chaos... his 1st high school rock band experience),Grateful Dead improv..(1974 ,Dead Branch Band), country-rock reggae fusion..(1976,Small Axe) then jazz rock pop fusion..(1980,Second Wind).
In 1983 George moved to Central New York and teamed up with an old friend,Don Rogers to form the rockin' reggae " Wesley Rogers Band" .They recorded with Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare (The Riddim Twins) and toured until disbanding in 1988.
At this time George moved back to Northeastern PA and played solo. Soon guests were coming on stage turning into "The George Wesley Project" Through the many guest musicians came former Wesley Rogers bandmate David "Ikril"Walker guesting on drums. On a tour to Florida,Ikril brought his friend Evon "Laza" Lazarus(bass) from his old Jamaican band "Soul,Power and Sound". Musical magic happened. IRIETATIONS!!!
George Wesley and The Irietations gained quick recognition and were sponsored by Jamaica's Red Stripe Beer from 1990-92.He also recorded with Eddy Grant in 1990.
Most recently George has been recognized and endorsed by Martin Guitar of Nazareth, PA and selected by them to work on some of their newest products like the Martin "X-Midi" guitar. George is honored to be included on Martins list of famous owners and thanks them for their support of the last album project"When I'm Next To You,I Feel Lucky" through their contribution of Sting's acoustic bass and Tom Petty's 12-string from the Martin museum.
George has been touring the East Coast for over two decades now. In that time he has opened for long list of spectacular artists and bands that include The Wailers, Santana, Black Uhuru and Al Jardine. Currently George is doing solo reggae dub MIDIguitar synth looping shows (The Small Axe Orchestra) and touring as a trio featuring Chris Condel (of Capt. Zig and S.I.R.S.)on drums and vocals and Peter Fritz (of The Octave Below) on bass. Incorporating MIDI guitar synth to access a plethora of sounds and live loops this trio sounds "MASSIVE!"Since the release of "Hold On" the band has added Angelo Miraglia (of The Octave Below....featured in Relix magazine) ..boards and Annette Miraglia (Angelo's mom ) on percussion and vocals to make an even more incredible sound!
