   George Cruickshank's Blurbs
About me:

Global activist

I've been Sovereign Head of State of the Empire of Atlantium since 27 November 1981. As such I'm chief executive of a community of over 1000 people living in more than 90 countries.

Atlantium is the world's first global, non-territorial sovereign state - a republican monarchy that advocates global social, economic and political union within a broadly progressive moral and ethical framework.

Media personality

I've been the producer of Ultima Thule Ambient Music since 1 February, 1989. In that role I'm responsible for one of the longest-running ambient music radio programmes in the world.

Tune to 102.5 FM in Sydney or 99.9 FM in Adelaide on Sunday nights from 10.30pm - or 92.7 FM in Canberra on Tuesday's at 10pm - or just get the podcast through iTunes.

Between 2005-2007 I was a member of the board of directors of the Music Broadcasting Society of NSW, which owns 2MBS-FM, Australia's first FM radio station.

World traveller and photographer

I've visited nearly 20 countries during my adult life, and now try to spend at least 4 weeks out of every year visiting and photographing places outside Australia. In January 2006 I visited Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. In October 2006 I visited Thailand (again) and Brunei. Late in 2008 I'm hoping to make a marathon trip to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djbouti and Eritrea. Beyond that Antarctica, Burma, Iran, Nepal, India and Bhutan are all on my radar.

My architectural photography has been included in recent exhibitions at the Melbourne City Museum, and London's Victoria & Albert Museum.

Visit Far Distant Shores to see (and buy) my pictures.

Subject to availability I'm happy to undertake photographic commissions worldwide.

Student

As of April 2006 I'm undertaking on-again, off-again certificate-level Arabic language studies at the University of Sydney. If you speak Arabic really really slowly, and limit yourself to articulating such essential messages as "the big brown cat is in the new car" I might understand you. Or not.

Collector of stuff

I've been a collector of stamps, coins and banknotes for over 2 decades. Part of my collection is now available online: Imperial Collection.

I'm a member of the Cinderella Stamp Club (UK), and am a committee member of the Unrecognised States Numismatic Society, a California-based collector club I helped co-found in 2003.

Who I'd like to meet:

Mordecai Vanunu - prisoner of conscience
Jared Diamond - Pulitzer Prize-winning scientific author
Simon Schama - historian extraordinaire
Jigme Singye Wangchuck - former King of Bhutan
