About me:
Hi, I'm Gerald Owens, a professional actor, producer, director, voiceover artist,
filmmaker and acting teacher based in the Miami area. I
direct and produce the Laughing Gas Comedy Improvisation Theatre Company. Founded in 1992, Laughing Gas is the longest-running professional improvisational theatre troupe in South Florida.
Laughing Gas has now begun its 16th season--what a long, strange trip it's been! We appear every Friday and Saturday at 11 PM at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street, in Miami Lakes. Call 305-461-1161 or visit us at http://www.laughinggasimprov.com
We also have a myspace
page with video clips, show schedules and more.
I offer introductory level improvisational acting workshops on
Thursdays from 8:00 to 10:30 PM at Peaches School of Dance, 2018 NE 155
Street, in North Miami Beach. Cost is $15 per session, pay as you go.
Just send me an e-mail to register--you can begin at any time. I am also available to help actors with
audition material for stage, film and television (by appointment). You
can check out my resume at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654370/resume
I can also be seen in
the feature film, "Lonely
Hearts," starring John Travolta, James
Gandolfini and Salma Hayek, now out on DVD from Sony.
Below is a scene from "Folks!" a movie starring Tom Selleck and Don Ameche, in which I play an emergency room doctor who has cut something "important" off Tom Selleck without his permission. Did I mention it was a really mean-spirited comedy?
Below is a national commercial for GameznFlix.com in which I confront former "Dell Dude" Ben Curtis:
Here's a brief scene from the USA Network's short-lived but very steamy police drama, "Sins of the City."
Here's a goofy little commercial I did for the Florida Lottery some years ago. I also did the voiceover.
Blast from the past! Here's my scene from the second episode I did on MIAMI VICE way back when. I'm a lot younger (and a lot thinner)!
This is a short WLRN documentary segment on Laughing Gas.
Here is an example of my improvisational work with Laughing Gas: Susie Taylor and I having some fun as a shady baseball player and a suspicious umpire.
This is a short film I wrote and directed in 2005 called "The Key," starring Andy Sottilare and Kimberly Cox, featuring Yvonne Gougelet and Azais Manelich.
Who I'd like to meet: George Carlin, Lewis Black, Robert Rodriguez, Richard Linklater, Roger Corman, Christopher Eccleston, Henry Rollins, Craig Ferguson
You've been saying that you're gonna be on Burn Notice. I've been completely green with envy! Don't forget to tell them they need to write a role in for me!!!
Happy Birthday!!!! It's a great thing that you were born so you could do all that you do for the improv world. You have helped many... know that it is appreciated!!!
