Interests

  • General

On myspace : acoustic fundaments in music or serious fusions/crossovers especially. Outside myspace : esotheric and philosophical groundbreaking thoughts that help to overcome one's own limitations, plus the spirituality of discovering some human essence during social evolutions, news in science especially in physics and mathematics, learning all kinds of practical skills, recognising anyone's stupidity and the limits and lacks of skills haha, and of course the opposite, discovering qualities and possibilities in socially engaged projects. By circumstances I am also oblidged to learn IT for helpdesk purposes. I have an interest in history and philosophy, but I have not enough time to investigate all. So for the moment I study musicians with philosophical qualities instead. Besides : I love good food, people who care, who are truly engaged, who show any skills, who are honoustly friendly. I love nature but in Belgium there's not enough place for it any more. I love mountains and mountain people. I am sceptical to any "belief" system because it mostly means putting a limit to your senses, instead of opening it up.

  • Books

"Burned child" by Stig Dagerman. I read everything from Castaneda, C.G.Jung, F.Nietzsche and H.P.Blavatsky although I prefer some of her colegues and people that finished her work with more inner peace. I read the whole local library department of non fiction before I was 23. I don't read so much now. Latest recommended book I wrote : De Papenspiegel, about laughable things in Roman Christian history (there are many).
  • Heroes

Milarepa, Leonardo Da Vinci, Schwaller de Lubicz, Annie Besant, Ghandi, Alice Baily, Wulf Zendik, Gurdjiev, Rasputin, Diamanda Galas, Ahmed Shah Massoud, Gandhi, and Hitchcock, are for me all real heroes on their level, even not always at each moment of their lives (it doesn't matter). There are many more people that I respect, but I think it's better to respect the good results. You can't count on people too much. I have the greatest respect for those people who succeeded to be trustworthy in all their results during their whole lives. They are also true heroes to me.

About me:

..

Myspace Editor
Pimp MySpace

Radioproducer for PVHF, Radioshow based in Antwerp, with additional website for reviews. http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com Sections : psych, fusion, sitar and Middle Eastern World music crossovers, psych reissues, chamber music crossovers, acid & psych-folk, indepth sensitive singer-songwriting, inventive new music and experimental music instruments, and geniuses in music.

Who I'd like to meet:

addicted music lovers/musicians/honest music promoters with a heart for music, illustrators with a heart in their art and people with care to investigate their own consciousness. I prefer to see some true spirituality, of someone who looks to master the creative abilities of the human heart / mind / trough developping an intuitive talent on music performance. Developing such an intuitive talent is a challenging musical expression which gets a musician easily outside any pop and popular demand & goal. So far I don't see any real message in mainstream, hiphop, rap, reggae, etc.. so please do not contact me with such music. Those who received or will receive airplay on my radioshow will get listed here first (see http://www.radiocentraal.be/psychevanhetfolk ). Myspace, if used well could connect like-minded streams. I do not want people who would like to join like parasites, in a hypocryt way, simply for their own benefit, without much similar interests or character. If you really feel honestly connected with some important branch of this tree you can ask to join. I hope I can sense your real personal connection, and can feel you try to contribute to this group's connection, and feel your personal creative talent's contribution to the growing of that branch. Musical groups with style authomatisms or overly pop idealisations will not be accepted in my list. Many personalised musical expressions automatically uplift any genre. However for me, psychfolk and acid folk will almost always be listed, even when it's rather loosely inspired, and sitar/middle eastern crossovers are also promoted. While my main focus has a fundament in '60s and early '70's there are no time boundaries for true heartfelt expressions. To be a bit contreray to many lists of (myspace) friends, I will also not list just sympathising friends. But when I think they are interesting enough to browse to within the context of similar interests, to make the list as interesting as possible for visitors, they/you will be listed. If you just like my radioshow related items and the music here, you can also join my yahoo newsletter on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psychevanhetfolk/ where you can read new reviews, but aso post immediatly related ideas. Singer-songwriters which I list I prefer to have a sensitive and a certain intuitive element. People who make music to make direct friends with in life are ok on their level of experiences, but I do not list music meant as background for direct contact contexts. Interesting musicians for me can be crafted composition architects or have a certain developped intuitive creativity. (I will check all the listed friends once a year. If I don't feel the conncetion any more in music i will put them off thelist. You can still ask me to join personally of course). Believe it or not, but if I could choose to live in a time scedule I would like to be born in 12th century troubadour area or live conciously and participating well in society between 1870 and 1940 more or less. Although 1967-1978 were a very creative experimenting period, it was very temporaly, this was followed by a pessimistic time where we learned to become more realistic, socially aware and flexible with the images of our values. There's an increasing portion of interesting music since 1996 or so.. Conditions now are really good again for musical creativity, developing again from the bottom, with a rich possibility of ideas. Who I'd like to see on myspace : Lord Buckley, Bernard De Ventadorn, Michael Chapman, David Stoughton, Kim Doo Soo, Shin Jung-Hyun, Kourosh Yaghmaie, Discus, Lotte Lenya, Soeur Marie-Keyroutz,Lotte Lenya, and so on

    Hola
Part of the idea is to enable small-scale producers, copyright owners of digital works (songs, tunes, videos, data) to publish and charge for downloading. Music and tune wise we have sorted, still working on video. As well as 'Raremusez Basement' (all tunes free or 55p) the download area, there is a Members site allowing registered users to upload mp3 files which can then be published at the basement. Can you pass on details to whoever you think might be interested. Charges/costs and how to are available to registered members. The site is built on the Joomla open source framework so large scope for development and hosting.
    Cheers Coopz new tunes

    New Fifty Foot Hose CD!

    http://anthologyrecordings.com/release.asp?album=FOgIMVzZlkK

Recorded: live on March 16, 2003 at the Beta Lounge in San Francisco

In 1967, San Francisco’s Fifty Foot Hose were certainly one of the innovators of a sound that took Psychedelia to new heights and was captured on the band’s one record, Cauldron. They are a totally unique hybrid—on one hand pulsating bay area acid rock, on the other, fractured electronic freakery, becoming one whole cohesive being. The sci-fi-ish video game-like artwork hinted at the sounds within, as did the Limelight label’s pedigree for truly progressive sounds. Band leader, Cork Marcheschi, used homemade electronic devices to create crude and experimental soundscapes and instrumental compositions that were sprinkled throughout the album.

Often starting shows with a swelling rumble that exploded into the first song, they soon developed a rabid following on the SF scene, though there was the occasional totally wrong gig, like when a very-pregnant Nancy had to perform at a Catholic Girls’ school! Still, the group wowed the crowds, performing with greats like Chuck Berry and Fairport Convention.

    Hi Gerald
Here's a jpg of my new CD "dna".
I f you need a larger one, I'll send it by email.
    Hope you enjoy the CD.

It has a whole variety of music and poetry based on themes from contemporary science and ancient mythological traditions. Since the release of the CD, I have been working on more string quartets with poetry reading in between. I have 3 concerts this month with members fom both my string ensemble, Seashell and Memory Theatre.
I wish you could see our performances someday.
