Gerard James Borg creates concepts and lyrics to songs in a variety of genres. He collaborates with a selection of international songwriters/producers on various tracks, and is best known for his catchy lyrical hooks, and original concepts.
He has written for the Eurovision Song Contest five times since 2000, almost winning it with “7th Wonder” (2nd place), and ranked high in several selections in Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Iceland, Bulgaria, and Belgium. Through the years he has built an extensive network, and has been consulted on various projects.
Recent works: Femme Fatale’s single “Decadence” written with Austrian Music Awards nominee Mik Tanczos, “Dynamite” written with Thomas G:son for one of Japan’s best selling artist – Mie, “Vodka” written with Philip Vella with whom he shares the Song of the Decade award for “Spellbound”, and the up and coming single “Give me Sexy” (Borg/Smari) for American/Icelandic star Haffi Haff.
Gerard has been commissioned to pen lyrics for the official song for the “Small Nations Olympics” and is currently freelancing with project oriented songwriters/producers, writing for established acts. He writes in English, Italian, and Maltese. His creative skills in design have also earned him international features in two major fashion publications, including a front cover. He is also a columnist for The Times newspaper.
