Gerard POPY is a French music author and composer and a member of the SACEM (Society of Music Authors, Composers and Publishers).
Born in 1951, he followed some classical musical studies and became familiar with the sense of harmonic and arrangement while listening to his grandfather’s music. Francis POPY was a famous French music composer at the beginning of the twentieth century and his works is still sold mostly in China and Germany.
Following his grand-father’s path, Gerard POPY spent his whole life in composing. For a living he was managing a music shop and a studio for more than 25 years. But he never stopped composing for himself and he became a prolific composer with a wide and various range of pieces. He knows how to plays several instruments and he’s particularly inspired by composing some film or instrumental music, as you can hear on the CD called “Quand Bruno Giannetti joue POPY” (When Bruno Giannetti plays Gerard Popy’s music) released in 2000. You can also listen to some pieces from this CD on www.myspace.com/gerardpopy.
He’s now exlusively busy with composing and diffusing his musical works in his own studio. On his web site www.gerardpopy.com, the pianists are lucky to find several musical sheets they can download for free. Have a nice time !
Hello Gerard, just wanted to say hello & thank you for the last comment. The pleasure is really on my side. Your music is wonderful melodic and your playing great. ILoveIt! Best wishes, Björn.
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends! We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too. We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy. Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large. What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Thanks ever so much for befriending us, and for introducing us to your beautiful music.
Truely amazing playing - sensitive and touching. It's a very delight to meet you here.
Much love and blessings from Germany Petra & Bernd
