Surfing America is the official IOC-recognized National Governing Body for the sport of Surfing in the USA.
Surfing America is responsible for holding the USA Championships event each year and for selecting the Official USA Surf Team to compete internationally. There are five Member Organizations that feed their top athletes into Surfing America's USA Championships. They are: The Eastern Surfing Association, the Hawaiian Amateur Surfing Association, the National Scholastic Surfing Association, the Texas Gulf Surfing Association, and the Western Surfing Association.
There are HUGE developments underway with regard to to competitive side of the sport and we'll soon be creating a Surfing America myspace group to keep everyone informed and to build the network.
Surfing America is a California 501 (c) 3 non-profit public benefit company. As such, donations are very important to us as we strive to build our programs and develop young American surfers.
