When I was young I wanted to be a music producer, but I didn’t know what the word for it was. I just called it the guy who made the beats. All I knew is that I heard my favorite songs on the radio and I wanted to make my own music like that.
On my 5th birthday my parents bought me a toy piano keyboard and I cranked up my favorite radio station at the time, Power 96, and tried to imitate every song I heard on my new keyboard, especially dance music. Ever since then my family knew that my life’s purpose would have something to do with music.
While most teenagers were socializing at malls, I was at home making music.
I finally got my hands on some production software called Buzz and started learning it. When I finished my first dance track at 15, I was scared shitless to post it online since I didn’t know if it sucked or not. Then I finally got the courage to post it and to my surprise, other amateur producers online liked it and made their own remixes to it. I then realized I had potential to make it as a serious dance producer, so I started remixing any songs I could get my hands on. Some remixes I had to take down from my site because those artists and labels did not approve of unofficial versions their songs, but the fear of it all only drove me to produce more tracks.
One of those unofficial remixes however did get major notice by one of the world’s most famous DJ’s, Paul van Dyk… Although my remix of Solange – Messages never had an official release, it was on many compilations, including van Dyk’s Politics of Dancing 2 and Eddie Halliwell’s Cream Ibiza. The remix finally led to my first single deal with “Blue,” in 2006, but the story doesn’t end there. Top U.S. DJ George Acosta took notice of the song as well and wanted that sound in his productions, leading up to the successful partnership we have as producers till this very day.
Right now I have the production of Acosta’s latest Universal-signed album on my plate as well as my own side project Reload. Our production team is also developing rock and hiphop acts too so I don’t just plan to set the boundary at club music. I also have plans to get into the reality show business and start a clothing line of my own someday.
