Band MembersWe have a flexible line-up...

Solo is just me and my old guitar. OK, more than one guitar.

The 'band' features one or more of the following fantastic musicians in a number of different combinations...

Katriona Gilmore on fiddle, mandolin and vocals
Katriona Gilmore - violin and vocals
Ruth Wilde on double bass
Ruth

Liam McNeice on guitar
Liam McNeice - guitar

Coming to a gig near you.

InfluencesEverybody I've ever listened to has influenced me in one way or another. There are probably too many names to list but here (in no particular order) are a few.....

The Beatles, Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts, Steve Tilston, Bodixa, Abba, The Indigo Girls, Jason Feddy, Kate Rusby, Don McLean, City Limits, Seth Lakeman, Queen, Patsy Matheson, John Drury, Ralph McTell, Entropy, Karine Polwart, Kris Kristofferson, Gerry Cooper, O'Donnell&Bird, Michelle Plum, Elvis, Richard Thopmson, The Hall Brothers, Eddi Reader, John McCusker, Billy Bragg, Odi

So many.....

And I feel I should mention a few guitar players, who over the years have made my ears prick up and think a little differently about the instrument. In no particular order (again)...

Scotty Moore, George Harrison, Nic Jones, Richard Thompson, Albert Lee, Chet Atkins, James Burton, Mairead O'Donnell, Gerry Cooper, Jamie Roberts, Duncan McFarlane, Ralph McTell, Brian May, Steve Tilston, Brian Setzer, Jerry Reid, Cliff Gallup, Luther Perkins, Kate Rusby, Emily Saliers, Nanci Griffith,

I'm sure there are some I've missed but I will ammend.

Sounds LikeDecide for yourselves!

   About Gerry McNeice
PLEASE NOTE. If you need to contact me you can drop me an email at gerry@gerrymcneice.co.uk. I'll have the new website up soon.

Buy the new single Braw Sailing for only £3.50 (+ £1.50 p&p) using the PayPal button below. The three-track disk (or thringle if you will) also contains Magnetic Island and The White Cockade.

All about me

I'm a singer-songwriter and have been for a while. I write songs about me, the people and things around me, people I meet, stuff I care about and sometimes I just make up stories. I am currently into folk music (thanks primarily to Kate Rusby) but I actually like all sorts of music (like a contestant on PopMaster).

Like many people my age I am influenced by The Beatles. Having an older sister and brother and growing up in the 1960s meant I heard a lot of music my peers either never heard or have forgotton about.

My first band was (typically) formed in school. From then on until 1997 I was in one band or another. A number of those bands have featured my life partner and love of my life, Ani. She writes some of the songs I now sing in my solo act. She also takes my - and many others - photos and you can see these here.

In 2000 Ani and I released our CD, Audiographs, which was well received by our peers and loyal fan base alike. Due to demand we 're-released' it in 2005 and since then have released two further collections, Crazy World in 2006 and the new 2007 release, Live at The Courthouse.

Some nice people have said some kind words about me....

Gerry McNeice offered solid support to the second half of the evening (at The Topic) with the high point being his song 'Crazy World' which contrasted the real world with the comforting cocoon of a folk festival. Fivepenny Piece's song 'Brown Photographs' came up like new in his hands too - an artist to watch. Joe Grint, Tykes News

A worthwhile record with great setting of lyrics and some strong tunes; songs worthy of Billy Bragg. Also impressive, and not to be overlooked, those melodic, varied and in no way self-indulgent guitar solos! Ben Walker, singer-songwriter

An accomplished piece of work, and one which I have played over several times for its pure entertainment value. Gerry's voice rises above a variety of different arrangements to deliver the message of the songs without effort. Jim Lawton, Tykes Magazine

Exceptional and talented! Mike Thrussell, Big 3

Top drawer stuff! Russell Walker, The Late Show on BBC Radio Leeds

Buy his CD! Chris Oddy, The Music Guru

A singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and all-round talented guy - and a very nice bloke to boot! Claire Mooney, singer-songwriter

A hard to pigeon-hole talent. Gerry's songs are superbly written, show great insight and are subtly melodic. A great purveyor of traditional songs also, Gerry has to be seen! Black Sheep Masham Music Festival programme

Nice arrangements and well crafted songs Richard Clay, Mulberry Blue

Gerry amazed the audience with an enormous sound for just one guy! Gerry's take on "Country and Northern" showcased his songwriting skills and observations of Northern life coupled with some brilliant fretwork! Great stuff! Steve Chapman Smith, Promoter and Compere, Henry Boons Myspace Acoustic Night

Check me out at a gig somewhere and come and say hi. You can also catch me playing a number of instruments - though not at the same time - with Otley-based morris side Flash Company.

I also play double bass with The Duncan McFarlane acoustic band. Check out the gig listings.
