Gerard James Butler nasce in Scozia, il 13 Novembre 1969. Il destino sembra designarlo come avvocato, ma non si può fermare una stella, e così lui cambia la sua vita drasticamente a 27 anni, quando inizia la sua carriera di attore.
Ruoli teatrali, serie tv( bellissimo The Jury) e film tv gli regalano qualche soddisfazione (vedi Mrs. Brown), ma è con Attila e Dracula 2000 che comincia a farsi notare.
Alto, prestante, due occhi che trafiggono il cuore di chi lo guarda e la strabiliante capacità di rendere unici e indimenticabili i suoi personaggi, grazie anche a grandissime doti di trasformismo.
Negli ultimi anni sta sfondando anche oltreoceano: col Fantasma dell'Opera di Andrew Lloyd Webber, adattato per il cinema da Joel Schumacher, anche il Giappone si è innamorato di lui... Ed ora tutti noi aspettiamo per quello che (sappiamo già) sarà una delle sue più grandi trasformazioni ed interpretazioni: Leonida in 300 di Frank Miller.

Gerard James Butler was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 13th November 1969.
His fate seemed to lead him on his way of being a lawyer. But the birth of a rising star cannot be withheld...
Thus, at the age of 27, he dramatically changed his life by starting his acting career.
Stage roles, tv-series (the most notable: "The Jury") and tv-movies gave him some gratification (see "Mrs. Brown"), but the roles of Attila the Hun and Dracula in Patrick Lussier's "Dracula 2000" gave him the first taste at being acknowledged as an actor.
His main features: tall, handsome, heart-piercing eyes and the stunning ability to make his characters unforgettable and unique, also thanks to his amazing skill in transforming himself.
This last years have seen him emerging also overseas: thanks to his performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" screen adaptation by Joel Schumacher, even Japanese have fallen in love with him.
At present, all of us are waiting for what we already know to be his greatest transformation and performance till now: the character of King Leonidas in the screen adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel "300", directed by Zack Snyder.
