WHEN DOGS GET OLD OR ILL, SOME OWNERS MAKE THE CHOICE TO GIVE UP THEIR FAITHFUL COMPANION
.. Photo: Sunshine
They always have plenty of reasons, based on the belief that being a dog-owner is not a REAL commitment and others have unfortunate circumstances forcing them to give up their faithful companion.
A breeder only gives up the dogs, when they no longer can make a profit due to poor health and if the dog is very fortunate, it goes to a rescue. Most dogs never leave alive.
Sometimes serious things happen, the owners become very ill or pass away, or find themselves without jobs, homes & options and just CANNOT care for their pet.
In the breeders case, serious is when puppy-stores will not buy puppies, because they have congenital problems or are too ill. Again if the puppy is lucky, it is surrendered to a rescue.
Either way the now homeless pet needs medical care and we make sure that they get it.
Most times they also need physical & mental rehabilitation before we can focus on finding people with a heart & enough compassion to adopt a senior or Special-needs pet.

If the dog is made available to rescue-groups from Animal Service, it means that we are its last hope. There are no more options! But if the dog had a choice, it would choose to LIVE and so we take the dog into rescue. -How could we not?
It is hard work, sometimes heartbreaking and costly, but there are dogs in need & we have made a commitment to not just walk/look the other way.

You can help by sponsoring one of our special needs dogs medical expenses and give them a new lease on life, you can read their rescue-story and on-going medical needs or donate to the whole rescue.

>Every week, over 500 homeless pets are lost, strayed, abandoned, or relinquished, and arrive through Miami-Dade Shelters. Without rescue efforts from pet rescue organizations, only 1 in 5 have any hope to survive.
This is a statistic from one Florida shelter. Conceder multiplying that by 100’s statewide and 1000’s nationwide.
Rescue organizations must exist in order to help the pets that are left behind.
Get-A- Life Pet Rescue volunteers, including our Board Members, play an active role in finding the animals a safe and happy home. All our pets are given a full veterinary exam. They are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, put on heartworm/flea & tick prevention medication as well as dental & grooming services as needed. Donations are very critical as they assist us in giving each pet full medical treatment, physical and behavioral rehabilitation and the necessities that allow them to thrive in their "forever home". Because Get-A-Life Pet Rescue doesn’t have a facility to house the pets as they are rescued, each pet is matched with an appropriate foster home in the Tri-County area. With individual fostering, we are able to provide interested applicants with details on the pet's personality and provide a needs list to allow the pet a tranquil transition.
Our volunteers promote responsible adoptions and lifelong relationships with the adopter’s new pet. We educate all adopters and provide them with all tools necessary to have a balanced and happy lifelong pet. Our ultimate goal at Get-A-Life Pet Rescue is to increase humane awareness through education, resulting in the humane treatment of animals, and reduction of the over population and abuse problems of today.
- The story of Lil’ Lucy the “Frenchie” (French Bulldog) begins in a South Florida puppymill, where they practiced the “anything goes” type of breeding (interbreeding relatives, and any other random combination of dogs, just to make a profit). This creates congenital problems; the most common being Luxating Patella, skin problems, heart and renal problems, as well as various diseases. All Puppymills and breeding facilities are different, but usually hold the same philosophy: Feed and vet the dogs as little as possible to cut expenses, and give them just enough to continue breeding. Often, several dogs are crammed into a small area or crate, and forced to fight for what little bits of food and water are given. It is common for the dogs to survive off of their own waste, which results in rotting gums, decaying teeth, and numerous infections. These dogs are usually euthanized when they can’t produce puppies, or die of inhumane causes.
Please, please don't ignore this or delete it. I put a lot of thought into writing it. These animals mean so much to me and my heart breaks for them. I give to different charities, but one person can't do it all, but together we can all make a difference..even it's it's just for one animal it would still be worth it but I know it will be for a lot more than just one. I have a lot of health problems and I'm in a lot of pain each day so I know what it feels like. It's horrible, but I can get help b/c I can speak, but we have to be their voice. WE have to speak for them b/c they can't tell us how they are hurting, being abused, starved to death, beaten, neglected and unloved. They deserve so much more. Please friends let's helps these babies. The ads on tv are so sad now that I have to turn my head away b/c I know that I can't afford to donate anymore than I already am. This doesn't cost us anything only a click of the computer. Also, if you downnload the toolbar called iGive.com and install it..it's free then u go thru that toolbar to make purchases thru over 700 stores proceeds will go to your favorite charity & there r several for animals. I chose Chihuahua Rescue & Transport. Also if u search using their toolbar 1cent goes 2 the charity 4 each seach as long as they r not fradulent. If they R then they will remove ur charity from the site and that's the last thing u would want to happen. See how many ways we can help. Please consider any of these options out there for us that don't actually have extra cash and when u make ur xmas purchases online don't forget to use iGive.com. I buy all of my qvc items thru there and the charity got about 35 dollars just from that. It's really that easy. I love getting new friends. I spend most of my time..pretty much all of it playing the app Dog World and the app my green garden. I would love for you to join dog world and be on my team. I'll send u an invite and if you accept then I'll send gifts that you can use to build your dog yard and each time u get or give a gift or send an invite u get points for dogs in shelters. This app donates real money to these abandoned and abused animals. It is my passion to help innocent animals. Please help me and my chihuahua in this fight for these beautiful and precious babies. I also have another myspace and the address of it is myspace.com/everythingburnz and my son has a dog world and a green garden too which I manage and his address is myspace.com/420istheshii4corey. We'd love for u to especially help us out with the dog world. There are a lot of flaws in dog world but I still try my best to play and if you want to get new team members then write it in a bulletin put your address and send it out and I know you;ll get friends. Thanks for being our friend!!!! :)Mary ann & stitch the chihuahua woof woof I'm begging u to help me help the dogs..please....

Hey Get A Life Pet Rescue, Thanks for the friendship! How are things in Florida? It's finally Summer here in Milwaukee as the earth has completed its seasonal shift on its axis. I saw you were a friend of Deepak Chopra's, so I thought you might be interested in a new healthy Ayurvedic beverage and ground floor home-based business he's endorsing called Zrii, which features the healing Amalaki fruit from the Himalayas. I hope this finds you well. Have a great week! Wishing you peace, love, and prosperity, Paul Kuhn Cellocaster, Violin, Vocals, Zrii Milwaukee via Aspen via D.C.
