Modeselektor should require very little introduction. The Berlin-based duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary have destroyed so many dancefloors around the world that their reputation precedes them and, as producers too, their stature has grown and grown. They’ve released two critically-acclaimed albums - Hello Mom! and Happy Birthday! - and collaborated with the likes of Thom Yorke and Paul St Hilaire.
Modeselektor's contribution to Get Physical’s Body Language mix series is a riotous, bass-heavy affair, one which takes in all kinds of interesting developments in cutting edge contemporary dance music. & It includes an unreleased track by Modeselektor - Art & Cash - Live Recorded - !

The clue is in the name: Physical is first and foremost about moving people: their hearts, their minds, their behinds. The 7th Anniversary Compilation is centered around material from the label’s last three years, and features contributions not only from stalwarts like DJ T. and Booka Shade but also friends, extended family and more recent signings. The emphasis throughout is on danceability; you’ll find bona fide club anthems – Patrice Bäumel’s ‘Roar’ and Booka Shade’s ‘Duke’ among them – alongside lesser-known bombs, like Matthew Dear’s ‘Free To Ask’, a track recorded specially for his 2008 Body Language compilation. Tracks exclusive to this CD include a new remix of Damian Lazarus’s ‘Neverending’ by M.A.N.D.Y. and Alexkid, and a ‘Saxed Up’ version of Dakar’s club killer ‘I’ve Got That Feeling’.

Raz Ohara and his Odd Orchestra return for their second album for Get Physical, II. It’s a warm, organic collection of avant-garde, open-hearted pop music which positively teems with life; a forest of pleasures and possibilities which you’ll want to lose yourself in indefinitely.
II is certainly less melancholic than its predecessor – it’s imbued with good feeling, energised by the rhythms and cadences of summer and the great outdoors - but it’s not euphoric; there is an underlying note of caution, of trepidation. This emotional mix is what makes the record so powerful, especially when allied to a similarly ambiguous musical mix: one which imperceptibly melds folk, classic pop, electro-acoustic experimentation and modernist electronics.
