About me: The Get Real project encourages young people who are serious about music to develop their own individual style, write songs and learn more about the business, get a demo and promo package and to perform with real musicians instead of backing tracks and covers. Auditions for the new academy will be in September, but until then keep checking for performances from the current group and take the opportunity to join the summer academy -different from your usual stage school...
The Get Real summer academy offers a unique course for young musicians under 20 years in modern genres such as pop, rock and urban. With a focus on songwriting and performance, students will work with and perform to industry professionals, producers, signed artists, qualified LIPA teachers and companies who have worked alongside artists like Chris Martin, Ms Dynamite, Macy Grey, Blue and Atomic Kitten.
Students will also receive tuition in vocals, guitar or keyboards in addition to lectures and workshops in songwriting, music business, microphone techniques, movement, rap, DJ-ing, music technology and performance skills.
At the end of the project there will be a gig at a Liverpool music venue and all students will receive a demo recording.

The course is delivered at the famous Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and offers fantastic facilities and a safe and encouraging environment in one of the most creative places in Liverpool.
