Welcome to GH Family Friends. What do we represent? Simply This. We Want More.
What do we mean by that? Let me try to explain.
We are fans of General Hospital. What it was, and what we glimpse it still might be. General Hospital is a show about love, romance, family, friendship, and fun. At least in our minds and aspirations, for those are our collective feelings about this show.
Since some of our favorites have returned, a gulf has arisen among the fans of General Hospital. We are a vocal bunch even when times are good and the show is what we expect and have come to love. Given this glimpse of what General Hospital could be with the return of these engaging, charismatic characters, a great wave of hope emerged within us. It was like a breath of fresh air and it was nearly palpable as this mass of GH fans took it in and sighed with unfettered delight. When it was over and our favorites disappeared we were left stranded, adrift in this vacuum to wait and see and cast our hopes out in prayer to the GH gods known as Guza, Frons, and Phelps.
We have seen campaigns come. We have seen them go. They are generally the result of a lot of hard work by a single fan club or a select few. It’s not enough. It didn’t make a dent. Was all their hard work in vain? Hell no. They’ve shown us the way. Even what didn’t work has given us the information we need.
What will work? Paper. My Father used to tell me, with a hand around my shoulder, “Son, if you have a complaint, and you want to get something done, don’t waste your time with nothing but paper or looking them in the eyes. If you can’t look ‘em in the eyes, paper’s the only way. You can ignore a phone call, you can delete an email, but after a while all that paper starts to pile up. They have to do something with it.”
Every message board, every star on General Hospital, every spoofer, scooper, or online columnist you can find agrees with the old guy, so there must be something to it. So, we want you to write a letter.
Of course, we know what a pain that is in this day and age. But bear with us. What do you write? We only ask THREE LITTLE WORDS, followed by whatever you want.
I WANT MORE
What is the more? Whatever you want. If you want more love, write that. If you want more romance, write that. The point is simply to tell them what you want more of. The guidelines to participate are pretty dang simple.
Write one letter for each thing you want more of. Write nothing else.
For Example:
Hi. I’m a fan of General Hospital. I want more romance.
Thank You,
Sign your name, fold it up, put it in an envelope and send it off.
Why?
Why we ask to keep your letters positive: People listen if you say something nice.
Even if you do write something negative, it only counts as one *tick* or check mark by whomever or whatever you remark on. There is only a count of paper, there is no negative or positive.
Why only one want for each letter? Well it challenges you to think. What do you really want? The more you want, the more you write. And we need you to write. Often.
Address your wants to Brian Frons. Whatever your opinions on Mr. Frons might be, he is the man in charge of all things soap at ABC.
So, given that General Hospital only places value on comments sent in on paper, we want you to kill a few trees.
Why should you bother? I don’t know. How much do you love General Hospital? We love it a lot. With the threat of the loss of all daytime soaps, with the declining ratings of General Hospital, we’d like to let ABC know what we love about that show before they take it away from us. Forever.
Do you love General Hospital? Let them know while you still have a chance. If the show disappears, none of us will EVER SEE THESE CHARACTERS AGAIN. We are calling for an all-out uprising. Nothing else will make a dent or stand a chance of helping. Buy some paper, find a pencil, address an envelope and lick a stamp. Send in your letters and let them add up to a huge pile. Envision Brian Frons trying to make his way around his desk but he can’t because of all your letters. Don’t worry if he thinks you are a crazed fan. We are crazed fans. We are crazy about General Hospital. Shut them down with your paper. Raise your collective voice to one hell of a barbaric yawp. Tell him what you want and that his training is futile.
R.I.P. Shell Kepler... You are/have been/shall be missed...
Amy Vining was one of the best and most underused characters, even though She played Laura's adopted Sister for over 20 years...
I would like to think TPTB will do something/anything to acknowledge Shell's passing, even if We only get a brief "IN LOVING MEMORY" or the likes at the end of an episode...
