Sounds Like
ghostbeat sounds like everything but unlike anything you heard before.
ghostbeat is performed through bryan's acoustic guitar and vocals, flavored with swatches of those influences listed on this page; and add whatever sort of music the union of those influences may produce unwittingly after a night of wild abandon together. Infuse Ken's drumming and harmonies with that, but he also manages to create a sound much stronger and fuller than expected from just two players. Ken took up doumbeks and djembes years before the cool rock bands did, sometimes playing them simultaneously with his drum kit.
Ken has recently begun playing with another cool band you gotta check out if you're into worldbeat - Energia Brasil! Check them out from their friend link below.
The name ghostbeat is taken indirectly from the book African Rhythms and African Sensibility by sociologist/master drummer John Miller Chernoff. His intense studies of music there described their belief that all music is a gift from God whose drum provides the pulse of all music. Out of respect, they never play on top of what they call God's drum. We call it ghostbeat.
Their CDs; Got It and Water are the work of an electric powerpop trio, as is Living Room Music but unplugged. Off, Dive, and Ghostbeat Five culmiinated from studio demo sessions with no genre limitations or boundaries. Check their album page for details. Sessions are currently underway for their next release Old Friend Surprise. bryan is also loving staying busy as a staff writer/performer/producer for Songs of Love.
You can still catch ghostbeat at a house concert here and there.
You may be interested in contacting ghostbeat about their community project rhythms of the ages, which brings children and seniors together to create and play home-made percussion.
I would like to personally and sincerely thank you for your help and support during the Brevard Idol Competition.
Vote totals for the final round were: Melissa Nadeau 27,852 JoAmber Dezonno 25,891 Ginnette Ward 19,481
As you can see I was able to win the competition and become the “Brevard Idol”. I could not have done this without all the help and support that I received from my friends and family. Thank you for helping to make a dream come true for me.
I'm thinking these people might rub off on me, you know? For instance, do you know how I can add a song or two of yours to my-space? Of course, only if you BELIEVE in such a thing and can tell me how to DO such stuff.
Just checking in...Linda gave me your email so I really will get you a written contract for the art festival. We can't wait. Going to have a BLAST!!!! Tina
What a wonderful day for Mister Heartbreak. It's Sharky's day. I think I like Shary. However, there's one annoying instrument in there I'd like to get rid of...
Many thanks for your add and support, welcome aboard!
If you've got a little time left, please kill some by listening to the genre of Progressive Dance :-)
By the way, if you happen to like VDGG, A Dance Mix of Man Erg(!) is under construction! Check out my blog space... :) Since I updated it tonight it's really fresh :-)
mucho gracias!! As good as I remember. Of course nothing beats the private acoustical version you have bestowed upon us from time to time. I do need the "baby" to play bass, since they are so hard to come by these days.
