About me:
Dubbed as the original Ghost Divas, they don't think you have to look dead just because you're looking for the dead.
Tammy Wilson and Tonya Hacker have almost 20 years of combined experience as paranormal investigators. They have a refreshing no-nonsense approach when it comes to investigating the supernatural.
The women are in fact paranormal investigators and have spent countless hours in the field of paranormal research. Together as the GhostDivas the women decided it was time to start speaking about the nonsensical information that was plaguing the paranormal investigative field. They registered for a “blog” and decided to be commentators for the field of ghost hunting.
They are often imitated, but NEVER duplicated… they are the fabulous and fashion frenzied GhostDivas. Oh, did we mention we are Fabulous?
Tonya Hacker is the founder of GHOULI - Ghost Haunts of Oklahoma and Urban Legend Investigations. www.ghouli.org Tonya has collected several phenomenal EVP over the years and she has compiled them all into a fascinating presentation. Tonya has become Oklahoma’s favorite spokeswoman of the "supernatural".
She will teach how to collect and classify EVP and will share with you her common sense rules for being a good not hokey paranormal investigator, which she has included in her newest publication called Common Sense Ghost Hunting? This controversial publication is not complete yet, but get to know her and Tonya will be happy to explain her methods, theories and often notorious concepts towards paranormal research.
Tonya coordinates and volunteers her time organizing tours, workshops, conferences and fund raisers for small town Main street programs. She also supports her local historical areas and is successful at raising money to repair and restore historical properties by nominating them for the National and local Historic Registries. Tonya is an accomplished writer and published author. She specializes in writing ghost stories for the fun at heart and for travel and tourism. Tonya hosts oral history events for haunted travel locations to promote and preserve history throughout the state of Oklahoma. She also enjoys photography and is one of the few female Urban Ruin explorers in the state.
If she’s not out in dark spooky places investigating claims of ghosts, Tonya can be found at home with her family, traveling or sipping Cosmo’s while getting a pedicure.
Tammy Wilson, founder of Eerie Oklahoma, is an avid history buff and conducts historical tours of local ghost towns
www.eerieok.com Tammy is the organizer of Enid's Scare on the Square, an old-fashioned downtown Halloween festival that draws a crowd over 4,000.
She has put together a presentation of how and why you should consider the historical background of a location as one of the most important aspects of any investigation. Tammy is a recreational historian, writer and a meticulous editor. She will soon tackle one of the Ghost Divas' most significant projects to date, a compilation of stories, commentary and research projects gathered by the women.
Wilson also has a keen eye for taking photos of forgotten places. Tammy is an Urban Ruin explorer and enjoys the anticipation of snapping photos of locations that have not been touched or seen in years. She enjoys traveling off the beaten path destinations without a map or goal. Tammy enjoys old Route 66 adventures and is a master at finding the best burger joint in a 200-mile radius. With her knowledge of off road destinations, she hosts ghost town tours, if there was a town there Tammy probably knows about it.
She stays busy with work and home. Tammy has four children and a husband but she still finds time to go out and have a cold beer with her friends and family.
If Tammy is not on a ghost hunt she is planning her next project or adventure. She enjoys hosting slumber parties for her fellow divas and having “Jammie time” with her closest friends.
Tammy and Tonya are not the only GhostDivas.
The two women have paid much attention to the women involved with the paranormal scene. They quickly realized that there were more GhostDivas out there and Tammy and Tonya was happy to get these ladies on board. The GhostDivas are invited to join us because they are independent, intelligent and have a diverse view towards the paranormal field.
With the assemblage of the GhostDivas we feel that we are able to offer a proper and unbiased observations within today’s paranormal research field.
Haven Taylor is not a “ghost hunter”, “ghost investigator” or “paranormal researcher”, although she did use to live by a cemetery, loves to explore abandoned places and is married to author Troy Taylor and is the secretary of the American Ghost Society --- so hauntings, paranormal books and ghost tours are a part of her day-to-day life.
While she may not be out wandering around with an EMF meter in her hand (and proudly has no idea how to use one), Haven does see the need for both fun and common sense when it comes to ghost hunting.
Working with her husband at their publishing company and with the Illinois Hauntings Tours, she knows what it takes to make the paranormal entertaining – and knows how important it is to look good doing it!
Janice Oberding has been a paranormal investigator over thirty years and is a writer whose work appears in the Weird state series.
She has also written several books on ghost hunting and history of Nevada. As a public speaker she developed the downtown Reno Ghost Walk, presents classes on researching haunted locations at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno NV, and is co-producer of the Las Vegas Paranormal Conference.
An avid historian, Janice believes that historic research, most often overlooked, is essential to a complete paranormal investigation.
She encourages people to use common sense when it comes to ghost hunting rather than to try and impress each other with bigger and better so called ghost hunting equipment.
This stuff is overrated, overpriced and overused…So are matching team T-shirts and caps. Ugh! Sequins, lace and a snazzy pair of pumps, now that's a different story.
Tonya Keyser, founder and managing editor of The Journal of Paranormal Research, lives near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two cats named after Belgian beers.
She has been actively working in the field of ghost research for the past 8 years. After originally joining a group in the Philadelphia area, she began to question what she was being taught, what she was hearing when she attended conferences and lectures, and what she saw on television.
After moving to Gettysburg, and noting the sheer number of ghost tour companies in the town (over 15 in 2007), she became very interested in “ghost culture,” or why people are interested in ghost stories, why people want to investigate reports of hauntings, and how the media influences beliefs in the paranormal.
She gathered research for a book about how paranormal researchers can move away from pseudo scientific methods, but got sidetracked when she and her husband, Andy, decided to produce a documentary about the culture of ghost research in America.
Exspiro Productions was founded, and the first of their films, The Other Side: Giving up the Ghost, was born. In the past year, she completed the first draft of her book, founded The Journal of Paranormal Research, and helped produce a comedy film about ghost-hunters.
(She is very excited about the sequel, which is currently in pre-production!) TonyaK is passionate about communicating her knowledge and ideas through writing, film, and satire, and is happy to be given the opportunity to express her thoughts in a new and dynamic venue!!
