Ghostly is a project formed by myself sometime early 2005 with the intent of creating music that's pretty much has been stuck in my head day in and day out. More than likely, I created this project because I love the sounds of raw, old school style industrial in the vein of Godflesh, Pitchshifter, Scorn, Dead World and a bit of other modern extreme music elements thrown in. The project started off as a death metal idea but it's evolving into an old school industrial project now. Please let me know what you think of my stuff. New stuff will be up very soon... and please don't mind the cheesy bio I made for fun.
The Obituary:
According to skeptics, hauntings are usually the result of enraged spirit(s) that choose not to rest because they seek vengeance against those who once harmed them. They wish not to enter into the afterlife so they can torment mortals into pure schizophrenia. Sometimes, spirits haunt as a group and sometimes, one spirit haunts on its own.
Sometimes, the spirit doesnt have to be deceased to haunt others.
In early 2005, from the depths of Brooklyn, New York, the soul of DMA transcended into death, but his body remained active. This human being became perverse thanks to the harsh realities of life and a couple of much scorned individuals; he could no longer take the pressures of the constant depression Earth has to offer. Thus, Ghostly was born as a result of sheer rage and anger.
DMA needed a way to let out this scorn in a non-violent fashion and decided Ghostly is the only peaceful manner to go about this. With his experimentation and a longing affinity to doom, he uses Ghostly as a vehicle of artistic expression. No one else can share his experiences or visions, so he is the sole being behind Ghostly, handling guitar, bass, vocal, and programming duties.
Ghostly once was a mere spirit, but now its an epidemic ready to plague others with the faint sounds of decay. DMA wants everyone to know what goes through his departed mind day by bleak day. Ghostly is the alter-ego of DMA's and the usual noise his wan ears hear yearly. Ghostly is a haunting unit under the power of a living human being with a dead heart.
Already In The Past:
Funeral Shadow Sampler '05 - released sometime during March 2005 limited to 14 copies. This showcases my first (lietally first) attempt at recording the song "Funeral Shadow" and a very rough, young "thrashy" version of it. Only about 4-5 copies were created and distributed because I became unhappy with the production quality and began feeling that this isn't a good enough way of representing Ghostly with such a "crappy" version of the song "Funeral Shadow." It came with a free sticker as the CD cover.
Tombed - released sometime early June 2005. This is the first official demo (not a sampler like the last release) featuring two songs: "Funeral Shadow" and "The Protagonist Fails." Both are more decent versions of the songs with decent but "hollow" quality production. Today though, there exist new and fresher versions of the both songs (especially of "The Protagonist Fails.") To be honest, the reason why the production is very hollow and the tracks don't have bass on them is because this was being rushed to create. I've somehow been getting so much hype from people and labels that I wanted to release something quickly. This wasn't the best idea I realize, but I'm still happy with the demo. "The Protagonist Fails" by the way is mostly composed by my good friend Juan and I wanna thank him for inspiring me... if it wasn't for him playing this riff to me, Ghostly would'nt be alive today. This demo is available in limited, numbered copies.
