Ghost of Consequence is nothing short of a southern fried reaction. It takes
what it knows, what it's learned, and it gets mixed together into an ongoing
progressive set of songs as new things are faced, day in and day out.
Hailing from deep in East Tennessee, buried under rusty southern skies, the
band has always been and will always be what it is today. Members have come
and gone, but the roots have never left the ground.
"I feel like I've sat back and pulled my punches and listened for far too long,
it's my time to do the talking. But I'll not bring mindless, senseless, meaningless
rhyming words with me, I've thought long and hard about what I want to say and
I'm ready to say it and say it loud."
"I'm not trying to reach anybody on a level that gives them anything but
what they're after. My goal with GoC is to bring what I've felt and gone through
to the table and hope somebody else out there hears it, and can find some
satisfaction in the relation" Says veteran vocalist, Dale, "That's what it's all about,
working through life and mixing it with the music."
"GoC is an ever evolving process of who, where, and what I'm going through
at any given place at any given time. We all have different ways of dealing with
what life gives us, this is just the best way I know how to deal with it. At the
end of the day, I'm just enthusiastic to be able to do this at all", Dale adds.
-What influences come out in GoC's music?
"I hate to be typical and say that I don't think I sound like anybody else, but
it's true. When I write, I don't listen to bands and say, 'Hey man, let's try to
do something in that vein.' I really and truly just pick up my guitar, light up
a cigarette, and go to it. My usual routine is basically just that, I play the
songs I've already got together to get tighter on them and then just play some
riffs to see what I like. It's nothing more nor anything less."
-What do you feel is your strongest point as a band?
That we're friends. Not only that but, that we're on the same page in what we want out of music. Release. We don't always say everything either of us writes is the greatest thing, we're strong on going with riffs and chord progressions that really feel right and sound good to us. I think all that, though, spurs from us being friends who know we can be honest.
-What do you feel like is your strongest point as a musician?
"The heart and soul I pour into the songs. I feel like I've worked my ass off for a long
time to get where I am with my abilities, I'm humbled each and everyday by them, and
I just sing my heart out. When I walk away from that guitar, mic, and stage.. I feel
like I've lifted the weight of the world off my shoulders."
-What do you hope the music will give back to you?
"The chance to give lessons learned to others so maybe they'll realize they aren't
singled out in this world and hopefully they can come to terms with that and keep their
head up."
