The Pretenders + too many literature classes - the 1970s x Martin Gore and Imogen Heap
Ghost of Summer Suns creates what Resonator Magazine calls “confessional, winter-kissed soundscapes and swirls of midnight” reminiscent of PJ Harvey and Aimee Mann. The brainchild of singer/writer/guitarist Elizabeth Elkins, the songs have been described as contemporary epics that could easily double as provocative, stand-alone poetry. A Grand Prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Elizabeth wrote one of the highest-charting unsigned singles on commercial specialty show playlists, and has been featured in Guitar Player magazine. Her songs have been heard on ABC, FOX, The CW, The WB, TNT, FX, VH1, CNN, The N, The Discovery Channel and MTV.
A frequent performer around the country - from her hometown of Atlanta to Nashville, New York City, Chicago and beyond, Elizabeth has showcased at the CMJ New Music Marathon, the BMI/Billboard Acoustic Brunch at SXSW and at BMI writer's nights in Nashville and Los Angeles.
In her additional role as singer/guitarist of the modern rock band The Swear, Elizabeth has been lauded by Paste Magazine for her “thundering certainty”, by Chuck Eddy of Rolling Stone for her “tough, assertive and expressive vocals” and by Guitar Player as a guitarist in “total command of meaty riffs, feedback swells, dynamics, and churning, crunching chords.” Her albums have been heralded as “best of the year” by the Nashville Tennessean, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Georgia Music Magazine.
Elizabeth! This is great stuff! And when are we going to write? I'm having problems with my voice but once it gets better and you've got some time, I'll make a trip to Atlanta if you want and we can figure something out!
