About me:

Welcome Guitar Lovers! These two Huge Axes REALLY PLAY and have been travelling the country for nearly 10 years! They were built by me, Michael McBride, in Charlotte North Carolina. The World's Largest Playable Fender Stratocaster was created in 1998 to be used as an attraction to help the local Charlotte NC chapter of ROCK the VOTE. One of the first 5 public appearances was at Eric Clapton's concert, both backstage for Slow Hand and his crew and up front to help promote Rock the Vote. In the first year it helped get over 1100 people registered to Vote at concerts and other music related events! Imagine registering to vote at Ozzfest and Aerosmith concerts! What a GAS!.. The Huge 13 foot tall Telecasterus Colossus, also the World's Largest, was built in 1999 to help hold up the banner and also to help promote non-profit organizations like The Blues Foundation and Habititat for Humanity. It's first public appearance was at the Rolling Stones concert in Charlotte NC.

At that time, It had 5 strings and a humbucker pickup just like Stone's Axeman KEITH Richard's "Micawber" guitar! These Huge Guitars appeared at over 100 events and promotions and allowed thousands of people, including Grammy winner Jimmie Vaughan, to shred on the World's Largest Playable Guitar Collection! Look for more video soon and much more info. Hopefully, I'll be coming to your part of the universe in the next month or year so you can experience the Big Sound of the gigantic Fender Strat, Telecasterus Colossus and the third installment to the World's Largest Playable Guitar Collection!

This year's James Burton International Guitar Festival and Benefit was recently held in Shreveport Louisiana August 22-24 2008

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer James Burton, who has played alongside Dale Hawkins, Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Gram Parsons and scores of other great artists, requested an encore from the World's Largest Playable Fender Strat and Tele Guitars. I participated back in 2005 (photo above) and it was a great time.

Delbert McClinton, Emmylou Harris, Billy Swan, Jim Messina, Phil Keaggy, Doyle Dykes, Rusty Young of POCO, Phil Chen, Lenny LeBlanc, Gary Nicholson, John Goodman and many other great artists appeared to help raise money for the James Burton foundation. Mr. Burton's foundation is helping less fortunate kids learn guitar and other music skills and is one of the finest people I've ever met, with or without a guitar over his shoulder.

Check out www.JamesBurtonMusic.com for full details.

I have uploaded a few videos of the concert to my You Tube account and have featured one below.
